Is it weird that I feel like the mix is better on Soft Animal than on the rest of the album? Also Soft Animal is the SHIT
I'll admit i'm a pretty casual fan of this band but Two Deliverances may be one of the best songs I've ever heard.
the little guitar line about 35 seconds into "You In This Light" is exactly the same as I Can Make A Mess's "Old Man..." and now I'm dead
Want to draw special attention to the guitars on this album. They're phenomenal. I remember on AP we all got caught up in a debate as to whether the instruments and specifically the guitars were as good as the lyrics. I can safely say that this album is equally strong both lyrically and musically. Love the increased use of keys that were sparsely used in Home and INGO.
This is so good. I've listened twice now and The Hotelier have exceeded my expectations. Hard to say if this will top Home for me. Sun and End Of Reel are my early favorites. What a band.
Wow, what a day. We got Pup and The Hotelier, neither of which I was expecting to hear for another week as of yesterday morning. After listening to Goodness 3 times front to back, I feel like I can safely say that I love it. A lot. My first listen was kind of overwhelming and messy for that reason, but each subsequent listen got me closer to the music and able to appreciate the beauty of it. They did it again. I have no idea what this album will end up meaning to me, whether it will overtake Home as my favorite, but I do know that I'm damn happy it exists. I've said it before and I'll say it a thousand times again; the feeling of anticipating something for months and it living up to the hype and expectations is a phenomenal feeling. I feel like once I'm able to sit down with lyrics and digest them this album will take on another form entirely. Lyrically, the bits and pieces I'm able to make out sound really great. I get to show my girlfriend this album tomorrow and I'm really fucking excited for that. I told her it's okay if she doesn't love it at first (or at all), but I'm totally hoping she does, haha. So yeah, those are my jumbled thoughts after my first day with this excellent record. Even as I'm about to go to bed I'm excited to get home from school tomorrow afternoon and play it again.
I sympathize Am going upstairs to listen now. Thank you. There's almost no way I won't love this haha
maybe i never noticed this but i don't remember anyone using they pronouns for Christian before reading that article. and i know it's likely someone has mentioned this but thread is moving too fast :/
Totally didn't put two and two together when reading that, thought there were typos or something -- man I'm tired.
Sun tho..... I actually wasn't that hyped for this. Home is one of my favorite albums but I knew this would be a departure and I just didn't know where it'd fall within my tastes. But this is so good.
I love the idea of Christians grandmother dying in "Opening Mail For My Grandmother" and the deer in "Soft Animal" is kind of a rebirth for her, which is why he's so shook up by the deer being shot.
