i just thought dynamically and melodically that record was unreal, my first listens of all the prerelease tracks (other than life in drag) really got me. scope got me pumped, deep rest got my hype through the roof. and it fulfilled that and more
I kept listening because of that song and the praise it was getting. Been doing the same with Pinegrove recently, haha.
i mean i had super high expectations for it and intro just floored me. i still vividly remember my first listen of it. it was probably the most excited i've ever felt while listening to a song for the first time. i did really love the album on first listen, but the connection i have with it now didn't happen for me until i had the lyrics.
the connection definitely helped it stick with me more than most records, but yeah. pretty much my aoty from first listen, haha.
Two Deliverances to Soft Animal has been my favourite section of this album since the live stream and I still think it's amazing. My four favourite songs on here in a row.
album is perfect from two deliverances onward, it's the first section that hasn't fully unfolded for me yet
scattered thoughts after the first listen coming your way: - so, i actually loved the weirdness of Goodness pt2. i love that it is stretching me as a listener. i loved it. - Piano Player is still unreal - the second interlude hit me hard, i just loved the guitar work / harmonizing guitars - i went and sat on a rock along a little stream by my house to listen to the album, so essentially i was surrounded by trees. there was a moment in Opening Mail i think where there is a lyric about birds and i looked up right then, and there was one single bird flying above me and it was cool. - Two Deliverance's was SO good. - SUN AND END OF REEL ARE THE BEST SONGS EVER - Soft Animal still is phenomenal - honestly, i got emotional during End Of Reel pretty much, its everything i hoped for and more. gonna listen again soon.
also crazy moment for me - it started to get kinda rainy outside near the end of the album... during "sun" at the bridge part where it gets a little darker and not as up beat, it started raining and getting really windy, that was NUTS
Home was definitely a grower for me, but I liked it a lot more when I first heard it than I did when I did my listen of this through the clips. Going to give this a real listen soon here.
this is everything i hoped it would be. As others have said, home was more of a grower for me save for intro. this hit me way harder.
