I hate the opening coordinates Just finished up. I liked that a lot more on first listen than I did Home, whether it will have the same emotional impact on me is to be seen.
Well. Just finished listening. End Of Reel is so fucking great holy shit. Love the little throwback to Goodness Pt. 2 at the end. That was the album I never knew I wanted or needed and I've already fallen totally in love with it. Can't wait to crack open a beer after work tomorrow and just sit in my living room and listen to it on full blast in an empty house. Gonna have to love you and leave you, guys. Gotta be up in 5 and a half hours. Whoops. Hope you all love this album and see yall in the morning where I'll likely have to delve through about 15 pages hah. Have a great time!
So... yeah. I'm hesitant to even post first reactions, but here are some rambling thoughts I have after my initial experience with this record 1. As others have acknowledged, this one is going to be a grower. Which is fine. It took several months with Home for it to become what it is to me now. That being said, there was nothing here I disliked. Everything was like to love. It's just a matter of what it will become with time. 2. End of Reel is such a climactic song. Perfect closer. 3. I need lyrics to truly appreciate this album. Thats what got me into Home, listening along with the lyrics in front of me. Overall, I'm so happy to finally have this in my life. I cannot wait to see what it becomes for me.
what are your thoughts after having it a while? I'm guessing they've changed a bit since your blog post on AP
interesting seeing people saying home was a grower too, that album was one of the biggest immediate gutshots i've heard in recent years
it was for me weirdly. i loved it a lot on first listen but it wasn't like, album of the year or anything. i thought in framing and discomfort were generic songs. then the lyrics came out.
