Nice!! I've actually have been interested in what some of the other band members have to say about the new record.. Feel like we've only really heard from Christian.. Anything interesting?
Yeah I forgot to ask the other members of the band about the record... whoops. I was quite... quite drunk to be fair. My friend hasn't drunk like we do in a long time and forgot his limits... I told him to slow down but he ended up drinking like 12 pints alongside making sure I was drinking the same amount (ffs) and did a shot of tequila with one of the band hahaha In the end he was so drunk he couldn't fucking see and took us the complete opposite direction of the airbnb where we were staying, so I took his phone off him (as it had the google maps we needed to get back on it) and directed him back like a big drunk puppy... It's a damn good thing I'm a very responsible steamer haha
There was a few interesting things - apparently the record wasn't finished when they went into the studio and You In This Light & End Of Reel weren't written - they only had the guitar riffs for these, which surprised me because I feel the album's so cohesive, I thought it'd been written and polished before they'd recorded. There's intentional referencing to Home in the last few seconds of End of Reel, in the sense that they do a similar thing musically by referencing the start of the record (in a sense), like what they did with the last few seconds of Dendron - this is very vague but I don't want to spoil the record for anyone! It's not a super important part of it but if you're wondering why they end the record the way they do - this is why. Also Sam's favourite song apparently is Opening Mail.
I forgot one of the best parts of the evening - Rozwell Kid all bought Lion onesies and did a stage invasion wearing them during Your Deep Rest. As Christian pointed out, they really missed a trick by not doing it during Soft Animal instead. Any time!
I listened to them before the gig off my phone and didn't think much of them... their recorded stuff really doesn't do them justice, haha. Seeing them live made me appreciate and want to listen to their stuff more. Rare you get a band that's that much better live imo
All bands I will almost literally never get a chance to see living on an island in the middle of nowhere between france and england hah
Literally all I can think about today is having this record, it's actually ridiculous. Can the next couple weeks just be over already??? Did Tiny Engines ever say when pre orders were going to ship out? In other words - do we know if we are expecting our records to arrive around the release date?
I emailed them today to see if I should change my address, and it looks like colored vinyl is going to be about 1-2 weeks late. So I don't think they'll ship till end of May/beginning of June. Black vinyl is hitting the stores on the 27 though.
Has a dream that life in drag was on a car commercial..what is wrong with me? I was telling everyone, " I told you these guys were going to get big" and everyone was like "this is terrible".. I try to get friends into this band all of the time and I have no success... My one friend even called them generic... I mean really??
I can easily see how listening to a random song of theirs on YouTube can give the impression that they are generic. Not a lot of people are willing to sit down and commit to an album by a band they've never heard of.
@teebs41 thats super surprising that you can't get your friend into them! Pretty much my entire circle of friends knows the Hotelier now because of me, and a couple of them are crazy about them. It's nice being able to share that with my friends I see. Me and my buddy Logan will put on INGO and Home and just go nuts on car rides haha.
My girlfriend loves them bc of me, also singer in my band and our ex drummer loves them bc of me, but other peeps just won't get into them
Hey, I was at the Manchester show and will also be at the Brudenell show in Leeds tomorrow! Nice to come across a fellow UK peep!
Also, of all the songs they had to pick to stage invade - they went for the song about suicide! It was still funny as hell though. Money well spent by Evan. Rozwell Kid slayed.
They were fantastic in Glasgow tonight. Played Sun live. I really think that song is their magnum opus.
I feel like Sun is my favorite song off of Goodness and I havnt heard it Kidding obviously, but the buzz around that song from those who have seen it live is really cool
