Na it ain't leaked as far as I know. Still people discussing the disjointed clips. Still managed to stave myself off at least most of this album, I don't want my first experience to be constantly clicking around. Really fucks with me when I just want to sit back and relax and let it all sink in. Also weirdly my friend has been working on a musical project and the opening track is entirely in the same vein as "Fawn Doe, Light Snow", same gang vocal style and also same vocal melody too. Thought it was super weird and funny when I heard it. When I said most of this album I still couldn't help listening to Goodness Pt. 2 tho holy fuck that song doe
100% arse that this is how it gets out tbh At least you have to work for your listen instead of it straight leaking I guess?
Piecing clips together sounds like a pretty bad album experience. I think I'll wait for this one. Sounds like it'll be worth it.
I don't think it has. "Opening Mail for My Grandmother" was one of my favourites. Just a really nice song.
yeah there is no way i'm checking this out early until at least an official stream or something like that
Unsure if this posted and sorry to be a bummer, but please refrain from asking for links to leaks in this thread.
Goodness pt. 2 has been the only song I've been arsed with, chopping is killing me. It's a great song tho.
record is incredibly good. Love the vocal melodies on this. My only issue right now is I wish the drums were a bit more creative. The drumming is good for sure and i actually love the loud mixing of the drums. Trying to see if I got this down.
agree with you. i like that the drums drive goodness pt. 2 (and take the lead at various other points throughout the album) but i don't like the drum beat itself. having the snare be on the first and third beats instead of the second and fourth would make it feel "tighter" also woke up with you in this light and two deliverances stuck in my head today.
Two Deliverances is currently my favorite. Very catchy but also some great lyricism and overall structure. Sun is also another highlight, I get shades of Among The Wildflowers. Lots of space and different tempos and its just a great piece of music.
yeah as far as individual songs go, Sun is the most interesting and ambitious thing they've done imo. not my favorite on the album, but it comes close. have you heard the dismemberment plan? both Sun and You In This Light sound very influenced by them
almost wish goodness pt. 2 was driven by a beat instead of real drums. structure-wise i feel like it does something similar to what you are invited does but just doesn't do it as well.
ugh those are two of the best songs ever everyone in here listen to the d-plan you aren't allowed to listen to this record until you do so emergency and i right now go go go
the only two bands that come to mind for me as influences/RIYLs/whatever for this album are D-Plan and Mae
totally agreed. what are your thoughts on End Of Reel? Its a very...different way to end imo. Maybe when I have the lyrics I'll feel differently. I think its a very good song and also shows a bit of that ambition that Sun shows, but I guess I was just expecting something different. I've never heard Dismemberment Plan but I'll be sure to check them out!
it's interesting to look at in comparison to Sun. Sun feeds off space/sparsity/consistency, End of Reel tries to do a lot of different things and combine a lot of different elements in a similar timeframe. i like it a lot as a song but less as a closer, which is weird because it's a song that was made to be a closer, that wouldn't work well as anything other than a closer. the two things i don't like about this record are the way the drums are mixed and the flow. end of reel is an emotionally affecting resolution that feels like it could have been worked towards a bit more. that being said restraint is an important element of this album, and the lack of an obvious emotional climax is kind of part of the point, i guess. Sun is the clear peak, but not necessarily a cathartic one.
I dig that D Plan album but never felt as strongly about it as most people who are into that band seem to be, haha. "Back and Forth" is a real cool song though.
i just listened to two deliverances. fucking awesome. i am going to love this album but i'm gonna wait for a proper rip to hear the rest.
