I had a class called "Trauma, Culture, and Memory" in college that was about the ways that large-scale traumatic events effect the culture in which they occur. We had to write a paper about a specific example of such an event being memorialized in art and I wrote about the Armenian genocide and System Of a Down's song "P.L.U.C.K." and got to play that for the class. And I'm old, so this was before "Chop Suey!" was released and they were still not super well-known.
Y'all need to stop working on your mental health so much. Just be depressed and have anxiety all the time like me so you can enjoy Spanish Love Songs and Hotelier year round!
Still remember people shitting on the production of Piano Player saying the vocals were too low and the producer coming in to defend saying “it’s exactly like they wanted it to sound.”
I’m spinning this for the first time since 2016 tonight. A Black Mile to the Surface (Edit: I guess this happened in 2017) and Integrity Blues took over that year for me, but holy shit, this is still so good.
I regret skipping the Home tour. I will not make the same mistake for the Goodness tour (assuming it happens).
I'd tend to agree. Goodness and Holy Ghost both came out around the time I was going through a terrible breakup, so shout out the dive bar in Atlantic Highlands NJ for having them both on touchtunes. That whole intro of "goodness pt. 2" still gives me chills, and I can't hear "two deliverances" without having some internal emotional episode. Just what a fucking band.
