don't know if i'm gonna sound pretentious here but Goodness is just one of those albums that most people won't ever really "get" and that's unfortunate
N 43° 59' 38.927" W 71° 23' 45.27- End Of Reel is the best stretch. This record is a top 5 of all-time, no joke
you sound extremely pretentious tbh. this isnt some higher work of avant garde art that only the highest of high class citizens can appreciate. if anything this is an everyman's emo album with a wide net of accessibility. ive never shown this band to someone who didnt end up liking or loving them.
I know this wouldn't happen, but the atmosphere and vibe of this record is so well crafted that I'd love for them to try their hand at like a Phil Elverum-esque studio experiment. just write these cool songs that they'd have to recreate completely differently in a live setting. the little glitchy parts here and there also made me think it'd be cool
I only got four teebs likes lol Two Deliverances is probably my favorite Hotelier song, but In Framing and Your Deep Rest are up there. The run of N 43-Two Deliverances-Settle the Scar-Opening Mail is extremely good
that's not what i meant, it's obviously not an absurdly abstract album but it's got more layers and a more profound concept than your usual modern emo album imo. i've seen a lot of people who jumped on the Home hype pass it off as "not their thing", and it's okay if it isn't. i'm just being that annoying friend who knows that it would definitely be "the thing" for some people if they had given it more time and paid more attention. i think everyone has that one band or album or song that they feel is massively underrated. i love both but i have a deeper connection with the ones there. i also knew i had to stop that top 5 when it eventually became a top 10 hahaha
i would say the question isnt whether or not people "get" it (sure there are people who dont, whatever), its that it just hasn't "taken off" so to speak outside of the expected circles. they are on a really small label and are associated with a niche scene, and emo itself hasnt been mainstream adjascent in a long, long time, but in another era goodness would absolutely have a much wider reach imo.
I can see you in this light or two deliverences or soft animal on fuse with a music video and heavy summer radioplay
