I remember seeing this band play Home, Like Noplace Is There in full at Fest. Room had maybe 100-150 people in it and it was the greatest set of music I've ever seen live!
Just got this on vinyl and it sounds kind of... Strange? Maybe I'm imagining it but his voice sounds pretty buried in the mix, is this a known issue?
this was a complaint that kind of existed when the record first came out from a lot of people but never really gets brought up anymore because i think you just get used to it eventually.
Yeah. I've listened to it since it came out, but finally decided to buy a physical copy last week. Maybe I was imagining things. Could definitely use a new record player. Mines probably forty years old
hahaha, yeah that could probably be it. Goodness is one of my favorite sounding records in my collection haha?? so i dno
Funny that this got brought up. I listened to Goodness the other night for the first time in a long time and the production finally bothered me lol
I think that in line in End Of Reel has a lot to do with the context the rest of the song and the album provides, particularly this verse: I think the album as a whole is about moving past some significant trauma, and the “I don’t know what I want, what I want’s where I’ve been” lyric signifies that moving past a traumatic experience can be confusing and difficult to see the other side of, while longing for the good memories of the past that made that trauma in question so significant. I think the narrator here is longing for that feeling of understanding that comes from catharsis while still knowing that the past should stay dead, and that creates a struggle.
I have Home on an orange variant and it sounds good to me? While I enjoy the fancier packaging of Goodness, putting a 45 minute album on two records is a bit exhausting. I swear as soon as I sit down I'm getting back up to flip the record lmao.
Been a while since I've thanked @Zac Djamoos for getting me to check out this band that has been so monumental to me since Home was released. Thanks bud!
“Was fond of your writing. It allowed me to see into you. You hid behind the similes like fractal light In all shades of blue pebbles and mirrors.” This line still wrecks me
the most important band in my life...so glad I could introduce them to someone who loves them like I do! the most underrated song
Two Deliverences fucks me up every time I hear it. This album is perfect. It’s insane how much I loved them after their first two and how much this lived up to expectations
I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before here, but I have never had expectations as high for any other album as I did for Goodness, and yet they still surpassed my expectations
I guess we should be expecting album 3 if they are going with the 2 year album cycle. Stoked to hear what we get next !
The Hotel Year coulda dropped INGO in like 03 and disappeared and been the best band on Drive Thru Records
