I mean yeah Home and Goodness are totally superior, no question about that. But Title Track, Nite Ratz and Weathered are top tier Hotelier songs. Honestly I’d love to see Our Lives live lol
Yeah, Weathered, Nite Ratz, Title Track all still go, and I'd say they're on par with their later stuff but don't outshine each and every single song on their last two albums. that's wild
I didn't say outshine and definitely not last two albums, just Goodness. I'd say almost every song on Goodness is like a 9/9.5 for me whereas Nite Ratz and Title Track are 10's that's all. My top 5 by them are still all from Home though.
That's fair, misinterpretation on my part, my bad. I think goodness is p much my favorite of theirs now but it's close
Pretty sure both of these albums are two of my favorites of all time, they both just hit me so hard every listen
yeah it feels like it ends at sunset, it never really gets dark but you can feel the album winding down toward the end you know
home feels like its taking place in the dead of night to me, discomfort and dendron are like the sun rising, they both have some hopeful undercurrents to them
I never got that kind of feel from Home. Home feels like it takes place over a longer period of time but not necessarily in linear order.
i remember my first listen through of Goodness i wanted it to be special so i went out and sat in these woods by where i was living at the time. i remember during "Sun" the weather started changed and by the time the ending of that song was happening, it started raining. i walked back to my house and sat on my porch and listened to End Of Reel for the first time and was absolutely speechless. Still to this day my favorite first listening experience ive ever had with an album.
i was so far gone in my drug addiction when this came out i barely remember my first few listens, but i remember the first time i listened after i got sober and it was like waking up with a whole new perspective on everything, it was really powerful
Ha, I had almost exactly the same experience. Walked to the bay to take this during the second half of my first listen.
