I agree, particularly if it was to leak in poor quality. I really don't like listening to leaks now, from a moral standpoint but also because it kills my anticipation for the record. I think it's much more fun to wait for stuff and talk about your anticipation for it with other fans, hype each other up etc.
Like i can just completely jam out to Home and have the biggest smile ever on my face as scream every word, or, it can be a lot more... i dno, serious? reflective? dont exactly know what word im looking for.
I want to second (third?) that "You pretended to sleep the entire ride home, but I heard you crying when you felt alone" is an incredible lyric.
I remember Thomas Nassif saying on Encore that it was unfair that the record was both intensively cathartic and insanely catchy. I feel like it's the perfect way to describe it.
That set of lyrics illustrates what I love so much about Home, lyrically. It's devastating and the whole set of events feels far enough in the past where there's this feeling of helplessness and a lack of power to change anything. End of Dendron does a really great job with that too.
I know I've said this several times but Christian is such a fascinating person and his thought processes and ideas are just so interesting. I love the idea of an "anti nostalgia" record since that seems to be a crutch a lot of artists (myself included) use.
I also love that they wanted to go on a "lighter" direction instead of continuing down the very dark direction Home went. I just love this bands decisions and I think they're being very intelligent about all of this.
intelligent and fearless. It's one of the things I always admired about Danger Days. I'm not sure if this album will ever mean as much to me as Home because I'm always more attracted and attached to sad music for whatever reason but I'll always respect the hell out of the move. It keeps them being pigeon-holed as a band that makes a certain kind of music.
exactly! its a really bold move considering how beloved Home has become. I have a good feeling this one will resonate with me just as much as Home, but even if it doesnt I still respect the fuck out of the band for doing what theyve done.
I'll give you £20. It is my birthday so please take that into account when considering my offer. Thanks.
