If anyone in this thread hasn't read Dream Work by Mary Oliver I highly recommend checking it out for some insight on Christian's inspirations while writing the lyrics to this album. It has the poem "Wild Geese" from where Christian got the Soft Animal title as well as the poem "Two Kinds of Deliverences," and it goes deep on the some of the themes present here, particularly how nature links to past suffering.
I bought one of her books with the intention of checking out how much overlap there is, but I'll definitely check that one out first
Yeah, I guess it'd be a Pup headliner, kinda like the Joyce tour last year. I just feel they need a little bigger support, last time I saw them headline there were like 30 people there but there was like 200 when I saw them with rozwell kid and beach slang.
well that's not a shocker, the hotelier is bringing out bands that musically they appreciate and spread diversity, it's so awesome to see christian and company allowing bands like loone and told slant to get a much bigger platform than any other show they've done
Rozwell kid is the best rock band in America but I'm very happy with other great bands taking their spot
Always. But even then, no haha. They're good and super fun live but I can't think of a way to describe rock in a way that'd make Rozwell Kid the best at what they do.
idk man have the national ever played dueling guitar solos while standing back to back with the guitars vertical? I don't fucking think so
I don't know how much I'll listen to them but I'd never pass up a chance to see them live if they came through my city. I'm somewhere between Brandon with "they aren't that good" and Shit with "okay but he played nearly the entire song windmilling so fuck you."
Just jumping to say that I listened to Goodness for the first time in a long time the other day. Last three song stretch of You In This Light, Fear of Goodness, and End of Reel is so perfect. Then Spotify threw on Goodness pt1 after, and I was in heaven.
I think The National is the b oringest rock band in America. Or anywhere for that matter. Rozwell Kid is alright, but I've only heard like 2 songs of theirs. The Hotelier are better than both of them.
