Now a bit brighter with a smile and a laughter. One in the same and what am I to be after, dancing in private with the concept of never? You in this light feels like a thing I can't remember
I'd like an acoustic Christian solo record. Or studio acoustic versions of existing songs. But for a brand new Hotelier record I want (mostly) full band.
Christian solo record would be real cool but I'd like to think we'd get another Hotelier record although I guess we'll just have to wait and see. If we do get a new Hotelier record then idk if I really have an idea as to what I'd LIKE them to do. Theyve covered a lot of ground musically between the last three records so I dont really know where I'd want them to go next. Maybe some electronic integration? Or maybe just a full blown acoustic/country influenced record? I guess id be fine if they just doubled down on their influences like Rilo Kiley, The Weakerthans, The Dismemberment Plan, stuff like that (well i guess technically these are Christians influences but still) and just produce another stellar indie rock record. idk im just thankful we have the 3 records we do and whatever the band or Christian does next im sure will be very very wonderful.
Christian should cover Left & Leaving The Absence Of God You Are Invited that would be a really cool 3 song EP
I would love for them to explore their Weakerthans style musically. I'd love to hear a rerecorded version of "Housebroken" with new lyrics because sonically that and "Weathered" are two of my favorite songs of theirs
Speaking of the Dismemberment Plan. Remember when Casey couldn't go two posts without mentioning Emergency & I?... What happened?
To be clear I'll be happy with anything the band decides to do, I was just listening to goodness pt 1 and really enjoying the sonic nature of the song with the piano and acoustic guitars. I think it's going to be a bit before we get anything and that is okay. I'm glad the band is sort of taking some time off after going insanely hard for what 3 straight years?
From what I recall: Piano Player Your Deep Rest In Framing Weathered Ode to the Nite Rats Club Soft Animal Two Deliverances An Introduction to the Album Dendron Avril cover They also gave pretty detailed anecdotes surrounding most of the songs, which made it feel that much more special. Christian said Soft Animal is his favorite song he's written.
oh yea that is good! that is really good. was hoping to hear goodness pt 1 ha, since I figured this is the setting he would play it but either way very excited!
yea I was iffy about the Friday show since i literally had no idea where it was, but I emailed Christian, and he sent me the details for the show. If anyone needs to know where it is hit me up.
