I've been listening to this a lot the past few days since I'm seeing them tomorrow and I'd forgotten just how much I love it.
Crying were cool tonight, although they lacked real stage presence. The Hotelier killed it, and Christian is pretty funny on stage. They played two songs from It Never Goes Out in the middle of the set for a girl whose birthday it was which was neat, although I've never really listened to that album. Otherwise it was a really cool setlist. When they came on for their encore there was a funny moment when like 3 people each asked for Life in Drag & Discomfort Revisited, but one person asked for Opening Mail for my Grandmother and they did that due to "popular demand". Very good performance, and the last minute of vocals in Dendron is probably the best thing ever.
They were so incredible tonight. They played Life In Drag right after Wildflowers and it made me so happy.
I just had maybe the second or third best run through of HLNPIT, the record just absolutely floored me for like the 100th time ha
Just made an account to reply to this post, it was my birthday at the Birmingham show! I tweeted them a few days before asking them to possibly play An Ode To The Nite Ratz Club as it was my birthday, so it absolutely floored me when they played it and wished me a happy birthday on stage. I wanted to hear An Ode specifically as it really kinda sums up the youthful naivety I had felt the past couple of years — it was only my 19th birthday. The fact I got to meet Christian afterwards combined with the fact they played my request and said happy birthday made the night very very special to me, which I appreciate greatly. I'm also a dude, not a girl haha
Oh damn, I couldn't see you but my mate said it was a girl so I just took their word as gospel, sorry about that! He must have looked at the wrong person! Glad you had a great night though, it was a cool show and I really liked those songs, even if I didn't know them very well.
Caught them in Bristol again last night. They played the exact same setlist as Birmingham, minus an encore. Midway through the set people were yelling 'play Housebroken!!!' to which Christian would swiftly respond 'Nope.' He also said their touring guitarist Scott doesn't know how to play it either, which is fair enough.
