Well. It's almost 2am, I have class at 930am, and I just finished listening to Home yet again. Man... That album just means so much to me. Never connected to an album the same way I have to it. I have really high expectations for Goodness, I think we all do. But I really came to the realization tonight that maybe Goodness won't be what Home is for me. And that's okay. That doesn't mean it can't be a phenomenal record. That doesn't mean I can't be absolutely floored by it. In fact, I still have faith that it'll be my favorite album of the year. But it doesn't need to be Home pt2. And I'm not talking about Home pt2 in sound, im saying it doesn't need to be Home Pt2 on the deep emotional connection that can occur with an album. I think too often we expect a bands new album to re-create or even simulate our emotions that we have towards their other pieces of work... But why? If an album has an incredible effect on us, is that not good enough? Why do we expect follow up albums to replace that. Anyway. Long kind of pointless post at 2am when I should've fallen asleep a few hours ago. Long story short I'm beyond excited for Goodness and I'm ready to have a new expirience with it, separate from my expirience with Home.
Also, they know about the snare criticism - Christian was like, "Is your snare on?" before Piano Player
They're all really funny. I remember when Christian played Intro acoustic and laughed when everyone did the "Fuck!" Part. "It's always funny when we get to that part in the song as a band, but it's even funnier acoustic".
I'm actually considering it, I could visit another friend down there as well possibly. All depends on when I get out of work on Friday.
I haven't anticipated an album release as much as this one in a long time. Hope for the band's sake it doesn't leak but damn I really wish I could listen before release day.
Do you really think that leaks effect album sales in today's age? A lot of bands let fans that preorder the record hear it early, and yes it usually ends up online but if someone's going to buy it they will buy it, if they want to steal it they will wait to steal it.
Yeah you're probably right, especially wrt music in this scene. I think with some albums it seems like a leak can kill the hype a little before the actual release date if the album is just okay, but with others (like Goodness) I guess a leak could end up building more hype.
Saosin comes out a week before this and they released a song this week so we should get a new hotelier song next week right?
Even if it leaks, I probably wouldn't listen. Listening to all you guys blabber on about it would be really tough though haha would test my breaking point for sure.
