Piano Player Goodness Pt 2 Your Deep Rest Among The Wildflowers N 43° 33' 55.676" W 72° 45' 11.914" Soft Animal Sun An Introduction to the Album The Scope of All This Rebuilding Great set, as expected. There was a small group of people who were obviously really into them, so it was great to be surrounded by other fans while they played. People did that like repetitive clap thing (idk what else to call it) during the slow part of Sun, which was rather strange. Now I'm just dying to see them headline again.
that set last night was the tightest i think ive ever seen them. Sun was literally perfect (minus that stupid clapping)
the only time I will accept clapping at a concert is if every person in the venue is a trained percussionist, otherwise I don't trust anyone to keep tempo.
the funniest thing about every time i go to synogogue is that i realized that absolutely nobody can clap on tempo, haha
This was #10 on my top ten until I heard the Bellows album a few weeks ago which pushed it out. It never fully clicked with me, but the stretch of songs from like the second interlude through Soft Animal remains absolutely perfect. Two Deliverances is my most-listened song of the year outside of the Frank Ocean album which is just incredibly important to me. Weird situation for me where Home is in the conversation for my favorite album of all time—I think half of Goodness blows that record out of the water, and the other half does absolutely nothing for me. But I was listening the other day and I'm really excited to see where they go next. I'd love for them to drop the punk-ish stuff entirely and go for something more sparse. The Impressionism and lyricism here is the strongest part, I think, and I'd love to see them focus on that going forward.
So good. Their Audiotree session is mind blowing too, if you haven't seen that. Rock-ier versions of Palm Tree and Spring Summer Autumn Winter just prove how amazing those songs are.
oh believe me, i know, i've seen them three times since the summer, haha. band is one of the best live bands right now
i wish i could re-live my experience of hearing this album for the first time. i really dont think ill ever have a first listening experience to an album like that ever again. i hope im wrong. but i dont think i will. the first time i heard this album was just soooo special. my ridiculous anticipation for it combined with how amazing it is was the perfect storm.
I had a very similar experience, I still get glimpses of that feeling I had on my first listen when I listen to the record in a certain mood. Definitely will always be an all time favorite for me
I remember hearing the spoken word poem the first time and was like "oh. Okay. Just gotta trust." I dig the poem though a lot never skipped it
I'm not ready to put it equal to home yet but it's def very good and important to me anyway. This is album I can listen to more often
Id like to get glimpses of that more than I do. It's not the the record has lost its glimmer - it's still already an all time favorite, and by far my album of the year. It means a lot to me. But there was something about hearing it when it was unfamiliar to me to was just really special. I remember on my first listen, I knew this record was going to be something else when the second coordinate track came on.
i don't have any real attachment to this record like i do for home but i'd much rather listen to this than home
This is pretty much where I'm at with both of these albums at this point. Haven't listened to Home much this year (maybe two or three times idk). I've listened to Goodness a lot, but it hasn't clicked for me like Home has. Both great albums though.
