This is likely #4 or #5 for me, not decided which yet. Also I hope they ask the crowd to shout out Spongebob quotes when they play here in January, even though they're supporting Title Fight lol. I'll do it anyways
It's in my top 30, still haven't nailed down my top ten. I'm going back through each to try nail it down, but I'm think this might end up closer to 10/15 than 1. I think it's a fantastic record, but I think that about so many albums this year.
i keep seeing the 1975 pop up on people's lists, how different is it from the first album? because i found the self titled a little boring and a little long, which made it even harder to get through and didn't give it any chance to grow on me
It's way better than the self-titled. It's like Deja Entendu compared with the self-titled's Your Favorite Weapon.
A Blanket Thanks to all of you, I'll probably give it a spin. I don't mind long, but long + boring is no bueno for replays. Which isn't to say the self titled was bad necessarily but nothing grabbed me. It was very very likable and also left zero impression on me.
When you give it a listen, I highly recommend reading along to the lyrics. The lyrics on that album really got me into that band.
I'm just praying they play Dendron tonight. I doubt it though, since they'll probably only play 6-7 songs. I'm excited to see them again but it's gonna bum me out that they aren't headlining and I won't see all the songs I want to.
Idk, I looked up the last set where they didn't headline (opening for Joyce Manor in October) and the set was Goodness 2, Two Deliverances, Sun, You in this Light, Introduction and Scope. Hope you're right though.
I feel the opposite. I'll be disappointed if I don't get Dendron at my show. Honestly End of Reel is my least favourite on Goodness, just hasn't really grown on me like I wanted it to.
Let me rephrase: I like end of reel better, and I think in terms of symbolically and narratively, end of reel serves to end the album in a way that I think is true to the spirit of the band and the album. I think dendron is great, ends home in a way that sums up the album perfectly, but is less true to what it seems the band wants to represent (imo!) And that makes me give a slight edge to end of reel. Musically they're both dope so
