They were so good last night. Was shocked that there was no crowd reception until the last two songs though. I'm assuming a lot of the fans they gained from Home don't like Goodness that much which is a bummer.

Also really mad because they played Dendron instead of End Of Reel. I was so excited for End of Reel

yup, the average fan from the home era definitely doesn't like goodness much

I guess the hope is that they gained some new fans with goodness era and that the next release brings all of those fans together!

i can't imagine they'll do anything close to what will appeal to the punk and hardcore fans of solely home, hah

  5. I mean, people were receptive in between songs and singing throughout the set. Just no moshing till later (fine by me).

But yeah, I was bummed about no End of Reel (or Two Deliverances! wtf!?)

Everyone is spot on about how good they sound this tour though. Noticeably better than even a few months ago. Christian is clearly in a groove vocally atm

    all we have is time

Listened to the first two records last night! Only one listen each so it's hard to say which I liked better but standout tracks (that I can recall) were..

"Vacancy," "Lonely Hearts Club," "An Ode To The Nite Ratz Club," "Weathered," "I'm Gone" from the first record

and "The Scope Of All Of This," "In Framing," "Your Deep Rest," "Among The Wildflowers," "Housebroken," "Discomfort Revisited" from the second

There's a lot of great lyrical content in here. One thing someone mentioned was that "Home" is a heavy album to listen to (lyrically) and I'd agree with that. Don't know if it's something I could just turn on at any time but I'm really digging this so far. Will have to listen to these some more and check out the newest record!

I was looking around and didn't notice anyone singing along, maybe that was only during Goodness songs though. But yeah I was also bummed about that, I think they had to cut their set short a little since Crying went over 5 minutes that's probably why we lost Two Deliverances :(

I've never had a better first listening expirience with an album than I did with Goodness

However, Few albums have become over time, what "Home Like Noplace Is There" is to me. Very important album for a very weird transitional period in my life. its a top 3 album of all time.

INGO is amazing as well of course.

I kind of wish they'd throw Weathered and Nite Ratz into their setlists more recently

Yeah at least one INGO song would be nice. The setlists where they played basically all of Home and threw in Nite Ratz, Weathered and Title Track were so awesome

One of the times that I saw them in 2014 they played all of Home and 6/9 songs from INGO. That was a great show.

I'm wondering if they stopped doing end of reel bc of how hard it is to sing haha they played it well when I saw them but I could tell christians voice was a bit shot at the end of the show, still sounded really good tho

Nite Ratz is easily my favorite on INGO, it is prime story telling and it really holds up when compared to all their later work too. In terms of how visceral the lyrics are, that song wouldn't be out of place on Home imo. Also do they do short sets still? I remember when I saw them with Told Slant and Bellows it seemed like a short set considering they were headlining

Eh I mean most bands from this scene are still seeped in 30 minute DIY culture sets, it's so hard to imagine them ever doing over an hour

true, this band and Joyce Manor are like the biggest offenders for this, but on Joyce Manor's part it's at least calculated in that they wanna keep the energy high and everything. Feels like bands with longer songs tend to make that leap more often though (TWIABP being a pretty big example). I want the Hotelier to follow suit though!! They've got a good catalog and it'd be a shame to let the pre Home stuff fade away!!

a burst and I'm awake now Supporter

From what I've seen and heard of discussions about Goodness on twitter, some podcasts and other blogs, I think there are quite a few Home fans who listened to Goodness once, didn't immediately fall in love with it and haven't gone back since, which is a shame since the album is a huge grower. Tbh I think the fact the album is less 'angsty' has definitely turned some of the Home fanbase away from it (particularly younger fans).
