Finally heard a couple tracks from these guys and I'm loving it. Which record do I start with?

It Never Goes Out and progress from there with their other two. It will be worth your time

eh, i disagree to a point. i think that'd be a satisfying listening progress but if you really want to grasp someone from the start have them listen to home

it never goes out is a half hour of your time, if you don't like it it's pretty easy to just move on to Home afterwards so im in the start from the beginning camp (even though i started from Home)

I would just be worried about the listener being thrown off by the harsher vocals of the first record and then not give their other stuff a chance but either way it doesn't matter where you start all the albums are good and two of them are great

fair enough, but we already know they like some tracks, if they don't like ingo and skip to whatever album it was they dug in the first place then that's fine too

i would agree with you if they were going in blind and had never listened to any song by them, but they came in and said they loved what they heard so at worst i feel like they just would go back to what they liked in the first place and track down that/those album(s). there's no wrong answer here though, start with INGO, start with Home, shrug they're both good starting places.

I was in love with them only from INGO. The fact that they kept releasing good albums was just a plus. Start with INGO, it's a very good album

If you're concerned about the listener not liking the harsher vocals on INGO they certainly aren't gonna like "Life in Drag" lol

Life in drag isn't out or tune bc they are screams which are a clutter of pitches

Woah, lots of strong opinions on this haha. Thanks guys! I guess I'll start with the first record then. If I don't like it I'll still give "Home" a try, since that's the one I've heard a couple songs off of. About to listen!

Weird opinion, but I started with Goodness and really like it and have a hard time going back to Home and the first one.

I don't really get when people like home or goodness but not the other. They aren't that different

I would disagree, as I said they're two very different albums. I do think it's weird to like one and not the other but I don't think they're that similar in terms of their goals and ways of achieving those goals. Aesthetically yeah they're not wildly different but they definitely aren't the same album

i think noting the differences in those goals and how they achieve them isn't necessarily noticed on a first or second listen though, don't know how much more you'd give it if you didn't like it. so I think most people would decide based solely on how the music sounds. I think this because I have a friend who really likes home and listened to goodness maybe twice and just decided he didn't like it, even after seeing them play those songs live too.

I didn't say they were the same, but, like you said, in terms of sound, they're pretty similar. Obviously in terms of like mood they're pretty opposite

Yeah, for me, I don't return to Home nearly as much because it's such a "heavy" record (in terms of emotion and how it affects me). Goodness (minus Opening Mail for My Grandmother ) just has a lighter feeling and is more accessible for me when I want to listen to this band. I usually have to be in the right mood to listen to Home but Goodness is a more all around record.
