Just out of sheer curiosity, does anyone know how well this thing sold? It had to have done good enough to chart, right? I never heard anything about it or saw any statistics on it though...
yea this band has still written my two favorite albums of all time..I just can't believe how much I still enjoy both records after SO MANY listens haha
didn't they have an issue where half of their preorders got pushed into the following week so they lost the huge boost that most bands get from preorders
A screw up like that really hurts a band badly. Charting is a big news, and once you chart (generally) a wider range of publications will start to cover that band. Very unfortunate.
They need to get off tiny engines if they want to grow a fan base they would be good for a run for cover or some thing that has more reach
they're very happy with where they are, i honestly can't think of a label they'd be truly happy on off the top of my head
The Hotelier has already been fucked by one label and nearly again with another. They're comfortable with Tiny Engines and have a good relationship with the the powers that be at the label. I don't see them going anywhere for now, and I think the notion or argument they have to get off of TE to grow is a weak one because of all the media coverage these smaller bands and labels are getting nowadays!
for a band of their size that makes the kind of music they make, they have a very wide range of publications on board already. rolling stone reviewed this record even.
Months later, I finally sat down with this record. The production and record packaging is so satisfying and well done. Can't tell if I like it more than Home yet, but damn, if it isn't one to keep going back for more listens.
I could I could never and still cannot get into Home. Goodness is still growing on me, and I enjoy it a lot.
As much as I adore Cardinal and it could well be my favorite album of the decade so far, The Hotelier trilogy still makes up my favorite discography of the decade.
This album (as well as the other two) are going to be ridiculously important to me this fall as I go back to school and start at my new job.
Its so frustrating having friends who don't get this album. Anytime I play it my roomates are always saying "Is this that indie bullshit naked people album?" I just want everyone to love this album
I live with someone who loves/makes trap music, another who loves EDM, and someone who used to love hardcore but now listens to hip hop/psychedelic lol I love them, but their music taste is awful (imo)
I have friends that will only listen to "hard rock" and nothing else (Nickelback, Theory Of A Deadman, 3 Doors Down) which is so limited
Pretty much haha I can catch them liking my stuff every once in a while, but usually the only stuff we all end up liking is like Kanye or something like that.
this is the story of my life. which is why I find solace in an online community like this, it makes things a little easier.
