Honestly Housebroken is probably my least favorite Hotelier song. But considering how much I love the Hotelier, even my least favorite song I still enjoy. But yeah, I don't love Housebroken. But that doesn't affect Home being like my favorite album ever lol. @cwhit do you remember when I first listened to Home and I said housebroken was my stand out track LOL?
hahaha sure do. i still like housebroken more than most of the first record even though i see its flaws. i just think musically it's a lot better than a lot of that stuff. also it's so funny seeing you come around on all these records that i knew you'd like
That's interesting, because for me I think Housebroken is waaaaay stronger lyrically than musically. That's my problem with it at this point. I think housebroken is an easy song to be an early favorite because it's maybe the easiest to understand. And by "understand" I mean Christian has this insane ability to pack in a ton of lyrical content into short phrases. You miss a lot of what's going on until you read the lyrics, but Housebroken is kinda the only song on Home where that doesn't happen. And yeah you definitely have a feel for my taste haha
I think part of the reason I don't like Housebroken is because it reminds me way too much of Pamphleteer by The Weakerthans, my least favorite song on my other favorite album
i can't say anything positive about housebroken positively because of how the message failed. did you ever read this? The Hotelier Tour Blog, So 2014 has been a really wild year for us, of...
Never was a huge fan of Housebroken from first listen. It's just really awkward and cringey to me IMO.
Yeah I've read that. I was also back when discussion got fairly heated in the home thread regarding Housebroken... That was really bad
INGO is a very addictive album for me, I find that when I play at once I usually end up putting it back on later in the day. It's flawed, but the energy and youthful rebellion conveyed on it really resonates with me. It's such an easy album to put on in the car or when I'm doing stuff around the house and just let it play and enjoy it.
I guess I'm the only person who likes house broken. lol but that is okay I understand everyone else's opinion. For me it's a nice break in the record, after wildflowers and life in drag it's nice to have a jam that isn't as deep if that makes sense.
Housebroken's big issue to me is that is has awkward placement in the track listing. Kills all the energy that Life In Drag brings on, and it's followed by one of the best tracks on the record.
everything about Housebroken is lame. this convo proves this site still has the same heart and soul as AP.
I remember my first argument on AP was because I thought Housebroken sounded like a Max Bemis song. I'm pretty sure I yelled at @Zac Djamoos because of it. I am sorry Zac, so so sorry. I don't know what was going through my head, haha.
I haven't listened to Piano Player yet. I want to experience the album as a whole when it's out, just like I did with Home. I've been listening a lot to the old version of Settle the Scar lately though, but I don't know if it's any indication of what the new version and the album will sound like. I'm excited for the "happier" feel I've heard about though! They're coming to my town on may 1st, but I'll probably still be on the way home from Groezrock when they take the stage. But at least I got to see them at Groezrock last year. FANTASTIC show. Watching clips of An Introduction on youtube still brings shivers.
I listened to Piano Player once and loved it, but I'm holding off on listening again (and listening to any new songs that may come out) until I can hear the full album.
weathered is def my favorite from INGO, that harmonica gets me I listened to Piano Player like 20 times in two days and decided I needed to not listen to it anymore for a while lol.
My favorites from INGO are Nite Ratz and Weathered, probably, but Title Track and Our Sad Lives come very close
