any one seen an update on the pink/purple (whatever the colors are actually called) variant since the one like three weeks ago?
Went for a run last night and the first part of the album had me amped so I was running like a child just full of life and joy. So naturally I burnt out and walked most of the way home and cut through a cemetery. It was a beautiful night and as I hit Opening Mail and You in This Light it was like hearing the album for the first time again. Got really emotional and have a new appreciation for it.
Midnight & Smitten. Yeah, still haven't heard anything. Tiny Engines said they were supposed to get them in and ship them this week but I still haven't seen an email.
Also, random but at the end of the first interlude when you hear the group of people singing I See the Moon, it makes me think those are the spiritual successors of the people singing at the end of the song Ripple by the Grateful Dead.
It's hard for me to get behind the idea that Housebroken is about police violence. Could someone maybe explain the metaphor?
I love it. I see why it would trigger some people-- the lyrics get right to that feeling. It's painful. Definitely not the best song on Home but still rly good imo
I feel like it was a discussion of lyrics and why it is or they feel it is about. If you know that's going to trigger you scroll over it. It wasn't like someone just randomly posted their theories on it.
they still posted the actual lyrics to the record unspoiled. that would be very uncomfortable to someone if they don't realize what it is at first
Maybe I missed the conversation. Just wanted to know what the general consensus was on that song bc its an interesting talking point considering its intended meaning versus the widespread interpretation of the song being about abusive relationships. If it makes anyone uncomfortable, we can swerve the conversation I just did my first listen of Home and then Goodness. It definitely feels like a coherent story in the life of Holden. He's definitely grown into a better lyricist. Dat imagery tho
If people want to know more about the reasons / the discussion / whatever, there are plenty of places in this thread, and many many other places where you can read past discussions. I think that's what anyone who wants to know more needs to do, because Casey is right it has been beaten to death.
Not meant to be patronizing at all. My apologies if it read that way-- I just meant the lyrics are strong and affecting. I haven't read much on the subject and I'm glad you sent me to where I can do so
