I think it will always bring me back to this two month period of waiting for this record and being unbelievably excited to hear it and see them live in July
Not to derail too much, but thank you all for the kind words and positive feelings the past week. I'm out of rehab/psychiatric care now and I feel much better. This new song rocks and I can't wait for the new album but what else is new
At this point "Piano Player" is my favorite Hotelier song because it hit me at that exact specific moment, laying in a hospital in tears due to the revelation that my life had hit a new low and my mental health was in shambles. I'll never forget that first listen. I can't believe how much has happened in 7 days. I didn't realize a side effect of rehab was it made you super sappy, I'll try to cut back on that haha.
Can we all take a moment to appreciate how good INGO is. Because it deserves more love and "Piano Player" makes me cry, no hyperbole i literally tear up, every time I hear it. god damn. this album might actually kill me.
Confession, I've never listened to INGO. I always start it and then am like "nah I'll just listen to Home instead."
Ingo is great for what it is. It's not as good to me as home but it's definitely a great record and there are moments you can tell these guys are going to go on and do something special. Especially vacancy and title track
Other than a few songs I can't listen to INGO lol its just leaps and bounds below everything after. Nite Ratz is really the only song I go back to
i want to talk about this album so badly but i start a post and feel bad and then delete it e: one thing i wanna say is that it clicked super hard for me yesterday. not that i didn’t love it on first listen, but i don’t think i really understood it. mainly because i’d felt really depressed for a while and it was the first time i listened to it while feeling good about things. listen to it when you feel warm and good. not necessarily happy, just good. it’ll click so much harder.
INGO has some good tracks but Home is just so much better, and I think when Goodness comes out INGO will sort of be forgotten.
INGO feels sort of like The Upsides for me. There's a certain mood and time of year that it fits perfectly for me, and I can always go back to it in that situation.
The only song I dont like is "I'm Gone", I just deleted it and swapped the old "Settle The Scar" in. Home is definitely better but Nite Ratz and Title Track are up there for some of their best songs.
I love I'm Gone. Lonely Hearts Club and Stillwater Spectacle are my least favorites. I love all the other songs though, especially the two you mentioned
I don't like "Lonely Hearts", "I'm Gone" or "Holiday" but the rest is great. Love the more aggressive section in "Stillwater Spectacle".
