So glad that I made the drive to see them OKC. Such an incredible show, though a little disappointed that it felt kind of short. So good and fun live though. Has anyone else encounter the "Numbers Game" that they do on tour? Christian lost to a member from Loone and ended up doing a crab walk during Sun haha. Might post the clip of it later.
Got a retail copy of Goodness signed last night by Christian, along with a copy of INGO, so needless to say last night was amazing. Pretty sure I made a fool out of myself when I was talking to him, though lol
Amazing. I think the set was cut short because someone in the band wasn't feeling too well. But seriously so amazing and intimate. There were maybe 50 people in the venue total, which made the whole performance feel really informal, but in a good way. Loone and Told Slant are both amazing too. Also, not completely related, but last night was the first time I've ever seen a Gender Neutral Bathroom, and I really don't get why it is so hard to make that change. The urinals had a Trump sticker that said "Pee on me" too, which I thought was funny hahah
Part of me likes it because I feel like I have a better connection with the band at these small shows, but the other part of me wants them to have all the success in the world, so I'm torn about it
If it was last night it was in Oklahoma, that's nothing to be worried about, east coast there'll be 400+
Yeah the venue I was at was TINY. Smallest venue I've ever been to, but I'm not one to go to a ton of shows.
I have a newfound respect for Goodness Pt2. I already loved that song, but hear me out. Me and my buddy Mark play in a band together and always cover the Hotelier together when it's just him and I. We tried doing Goodness Pt2 yesterday and staying on time for the first section of that song is seriously so tough. I'd consider myself a pretty good musician, but to sing and play that syncopated guitar chord at the same time was actually so hard. I would've loved to see what the writing process was like for that song.
I'm going to the Bloomington show tomorrow. Last time they were there was about 25 people. Will update on the crowd tomorrow
So you were at the show at 89th Street? It was by far the smallest I've been to too. Just wondering but were you by chance in the front on the right side?
Yesterday I was driving and listening to Soft Animal with the windows down. It was night out so I couldn't see very far ahead of me but during the beginning of the bridge, I accidentally ran over the skull of a deer that was already road kill and hearing the crunch felt awful while listening the lyrics
After listening to home today, I may prefer it a tiny bit to the new record. Which is fine they obviously didn't need to top my favorite record of all time, I just wanted them to come close and they certainly did that
In this young night's sky there are pinhole lights. Find the shape of a harp and an arrowhead. Do I hear your tunes or acknowledge wounds that I got from rubbing elbows with a sharpened edge? But if I choose this too does it count as my move? I can't drop my history just to become new. Now swimming through the nothingness and the absolute but I couldn't ask this of you. I couldn't ask this of you.
That whole section right there might be the best on the album. You gotta count the "oooOOOooo" though too.
It's just been stuck in my head for the better part of 2 days, but yes, the "oooOOOooo" is essential.
Great song. I think each year everyone comes up with 2-3 "perfect" songs and that's one of them for me.
i actually wouldn't call any specific song on here a standout, like i would an "introduction" or "your deep rest". however i'm definitely more in the mood to listen to this record as a whole
Interesting, because it's the opposite for me. I have standouts on Goodness but most of the time listen to Home in full every time.
i listen to both records in whole most of the time. however if i had to pick out a song to put on a "best songs of the year" list i'm not sure i'd pick anything from this record, while introduction was my favorite of 2014 (i think).
I don't think I could pick a "favorite" off of Goodness yet. but I couldn't pick a single favorite off of Home either.
