Not even worth putting any stock into my own rankings right now because I know Against Me! are gonna come fuck it up by the end of the year anyway. MoBo and Brian Fallon currently fighting for #1 though, Chance is a top 3 as well.
Currently sitting on Pinegrove as my number 1, with Brian Fallon and Hands Like Houses close behind. This and Thrice will most definitely shove themselves into my top 5 though.
I just put together a rough top 10 from there, but I definitely need to listen to a lot of these albums more to feel confident about it. The 1975, Deftones, O'Brother, Thrice, and Daughter are the only albums I've listened to 5+ this year, but some other great albums I've given 1-3 listens would be Radiohead, The Hotelier, Pinegrove, Beyonce, James Blake, and Tim Hecker. June will definitely be a catch up month for me.
Well shit, then no, that does not help my expectations. Those all seemed a little boring to me on first listen. The style Radiohead went on this record is just not my thing at all. I get why people find it beautiful, but it did not hold my attention at all.
Funny thing is I don't love Frankie or mitski or loner chic or Sioux Falls (but they are good!!!) and I still think it's ridic
Definitely not a weak year, but I don't think it's been the best year in recent memory either. Give me last year's mid-year slate any day over what I've heard so far this year.
It's good but I don't feel it's top 5 good. Everyone has their taste but for me it's like a movie I don't need to see again.
I didn't listen to music enough to care about those years much haha Don't wanna let nostalgia cloud me
2004 yielded three of my all time top 10 and two of my top three. Nothing is ever topping that. 2015 was probably actually my second favorite year since I started paying attention though, so this year has a lot to live up to!
