lol speaking of Hotelier covers.... me and my band im playing in covered "Dendron" as an encore song a couple weeks ago. felt good.
I can relate to this. I abstained from much of the discussion surrounding C&L last year because the emotions and meanings I've attached to that record are so personally specific that it would be near impossible for me to view it with any semblance of objectivity. Even the time and place I prefer to listen to it is specific and deliberate.
Just bought tickets for me and my wife to see them next Tuesday. So excited. Just listened to one of the opening bands though and I may get there late because I didn't like that at all haha
The Told Slant song I just heard was not very enjoyable haha I will check the others out before i decide though.
do not miss told slant by any means. None of their recorded material accurately represents the tone/energy they bring to their live performance. One of the best live bands out there right now IMO.
none of my friends have ever been able to get into told slant's recorded material but walked away from their live set blown away.
I gave them a bit of a listen; Loone were fine, seemed pretty standard twinkle (is that term even still used) at face value. But I didn't think Told Slant were any good at all...
there's people i wouldn't expect in here to like any of those epoch bands lol. like i can't imagine someone liking both tiny moving parts and told slant hotelier's scene and aesthetic doesn't totally mesh with their sound/fans which is real interesting to me
yep, ill be at the seattle show! im driving 13 hours from where i live in Canada for it haha... im not a drinker but we should definitely say hi! in all my years of posting on here/AP ive never got to meet another user!
I'll definitely shoot you a PM on the day of the show. Pretty small place so wont be that hard to say what's up. 13 hour drive is quite the commitment haha that's awesome you''re doing that.
Tsunami was way better than the other song i listened to. But I'll take everyones word for it that they're good live and check it out.
And yeah, I've noticed that too about Hotelier. I feel like the gap, at least in regards to sound, is smaller with Goodness compared to Home. But, they ARE touring with IIOI and toured with the Get Up Kids. What about a band like TWIABP?
I sometimes skip shows in Tacoma, WA because it's 34 miles away and don't want to drive lol you're a better man than me
Oh common we need a one post per day limit on this thread so I don't have to read 5 pages every hour to keep up.
well, this band means a lot to me i guess... and i really wanna see them play at this time in their career because the setlist is such a perfect balance of Home and Goodness. Home was a big record for me... also, i mentioned this earlier but living in Canada you kind of get used to big drives. everything is so far apart here, it isnt unusual for me and my friends to drive 3-5 hours on a weekend to go do something / go somewhere else and such.
this is there, but also contained within the "falling in love" is the breakup. "two deliverances" feels like both at once, time collapsing on itself
