I don't know about "more" – I think it's too early to tell that, though I like this more on first listen(s) than I liked Home on first listen(s) – but I like it differently. My favorite part so far is how cohesive it is. Everything flows well and there are so many intra-album callbacks and references, from instrumentation to lyrics to melodies to production choices, and I think that fits in well with a lot of the lyrical themes of the album and how it speaks to interconnectedness.
Allow me to sum up the appropriate response to a lot of the discussion I've seen in this thread about this band: it's none of our fucking business.
there's A MAJOR difference between noticing the use of they in an article and asking if someone is transgender. there is a HUGE difference between explaining the use of they/them and asking if someone is transgender. well that gets you a block.
I don't need to be shown examples of stupid/offensive questions asked in AMAs to understand the concept.
yea I am just going to talk about the music from here on out.. don't want to offend anyone and like someone said above, this thread is going down a dark path ha
To be clear my above statement does not apply to discussion of stuff like mixing decisions...but if you're going to come in here and say this album has "bad" mixing then I'm going to be forced to assume that you've never listened to any music less slickly and blandly produced/mixed/mastered than The Wonder Years or something
I think maybe Horrorca was just listing questions the band's likely to be asked rather than suggesting people actually ask them? Trying to give benefit of the doubt here.
I'm not sure, the whole I was banking on a future that would be involving you makes me think it's someone that they had a long relationship with, but that being said it's a hard one to figure out.
Different artist/album (heck, even a different genre) but I like how Riley from Thrice addresses that in his interview here:
I feel like maybe I'm totally misinterpreting the lyrics to the song, but it reminds me of Your Deep Rest.
I was thinking something similar. I interpret it that it's his own troubled past he's talking about and even though he might be falling in love with someone he doesn't want to drag them into it... "I couldn't ask this of you."
