Yeah that's fair enough, I didn't mean to suggest that. I'm just quite interested in like how they've gone about making one of my favourite albums. Not really entitlement but when some bands like Thrice do fantastic in the studio videos detailing the songwriting process it kind of makes you think about this stuff, but obviously different bands have different approaches to privacy
True, but very rarely do you get members of a band on what is the album release in depth interview actually say they dislike a part of the record. Think that's more of a testament to the strength and in depth nature of the article write up than suggesting anything else, a compromise was obv made somewhere
It's like in MCS, Justin has said that he and Josh fight like brothers when it comes to songwriting. Like Jordan said, there's compromise in a group.
I never buy into articles that try to dissect any tension in a group, because unless you're in said group and experience it everyday, you don't know what's really going on.
I agree with the majority that it isn't our business.. Which is why I went back and deleted my post.. Ha sorry for creating this discussion.. Listening to the record now during my prep period on headphones.. It feels so fresh every time I hear it.
I've had the last part of Sun stuck in my head for like an hour. I can't wait until I can get this on my phone so I can listen to it on walks and in the car
I actually don't think this is true haha, I read stuff like this all the time, some band members not being happy with the mix etc.
I think my favorite lyrics on here are 'Opening Mail' because man what a song. The way the music drops out at around the 1:30 mark is chilling.
Fear of Good is an underrated track. I haven't seen a lot of discussion about it but it's a pretty awesome.
Aha fair, I personally haven't come across any articles where members criticise it on the album release promotion push but yeah months after its normally commonplace but I'll take your word for it :)
I think I'm going to need to trim those snare hits off the end of "End of Reel." Such a great closer other than that. What an odd decision to put those in.
When the choir vocals drop out later on in the song around 2:25...that gets me too, such a beautiful song
Does the production feel off on this or is it just because I'm listening on Soundcloud? It just doesn't sound full at all.
I think they wanted to tie it in with goodness pt 2 which is there to set up the piano player so yea.. Apparently someone in the band said it was meant to be a reference to home
That is pretty annoying. I don't mind it as much in 'Goodness Pt 2', because 'Piano Player' starts with a snare hit so I look at it there as more of a bridge to that song. I would totally trim it off in 'End of Reel' though.
nah, it's 'the band's vision'. Like, I get that as a defense, but still, it SIGNIFICANTLY hurts a lot of the album and rarely works in it's favor. Goodness Pt. 2 and parts of Two Deliverances are, in my opinion, the only parts where it really "works"
I do immediately. I was not a huge fan of that album like some people, but I immediately loved this one.
