Yeah possibly...the only thing re them going back to Home is from that interview it felt that album was very situational, as in written about things that were directly happening to Christian and his friends at the time. Whether that means he can or even wants to write a similar album again who knows, guess we'll see haha
Favorite moments on the album: Two Deliverances But if I choose this too does it count as my move? I can't drop my history just to become new. Now swimming through the nothingness and the absolute but I couldn't ask this of you, I couldn't ask this... ooo oo oo ooooo oo The whole ending of Soft Animal. You In This Light You in this light feels like a thing I can't remember. Clutching you close your body felt like December shook awake early from the rocks of your tremors. Tracing my thumb over the miles of your memory. Now a bit brighter with a smile and a laughter. One in the same and what am I to be after, dancing in private with the concept of never? You in this light feels like a thing I can't remember. End of Reel In the light of the day, stabilize and reset and then burn in the image until I can't forget and end ceaselessly speaking until Nothing is unsaid. I don't know what I want what I want is where I've been. In the night will rest you head into my hands will you disrupt this pattern from starting again? If I ask you for Nothing will Nothing there stand? I don't know what I want what I wants where I've been.
"I don't know what I want, what I want's where I've been" is probably my favorite lyric here. So simple and universal, it hits me just right with the themes of this album.
They are grouped like that but I'd say wrongly. It's not even similar to 90s emo. That's like when people say My Chemical Romance is emo.
i hate the whole "emo" conversation but like i see as like early 90s up until american football or a little before: first wave american football to like 2003 or so: second wave the real quiet phase up until the revival: third wave emo revival: fourth wave think we're potentially on a new one now
Gotcha I always thought that the 80s were considered first wave 90s second 2000-2010 third and currently 4th but I don't know much about it ha
So what would you call that era then "post hardcore" lol labels are stupid I just meant my friends live in the past and arnt open minded to new stuff.. Hoping I can convert people into being fans of this band though
I hate the whole conversation too cause a lot of people just label anything with sad lyrics or a certain appearance as emo. But I don't even think there's been 4 waves or whatever, still seems we're in the "revival" phase.
Yeah I get what you mean. Some people are really stubborn about that. But I'd say all those bands mentioned are just like alternative pop rock kind of stuff. "Post hardcore" (another cringe worthy genre to talk about) I consider more like early Thursday, Thrice, Glassjaw, Blood Brothers...something in that vein.
Finally going to sit down with lyrics tonight. Couldn't listen at all yesterday so I'm excited to hear this again
I finally read along the lyrics with Soft Animal and it really killed me. I can't wait to have time to do the same with the rest of this album. All I know is this album reminds me of why I love music so much. Even with unreasonably high expectations, I am so thrilled with this album.
I listened to that record with my sister and I was surprised when Goodness Pt.2 was her favorite song. I absolutely love Goodness Pt.2 and I think it's one of the best - but I think it's the least accessible
Wake up every day with "Two Deliverances" stuck in my head, so I would have to say that's my favorite at the moment.
Lol well when I get together with these friends we mainly listen to rock music anyway so it's not that far off
People get drunk and....and then.....feeling deep emotions with friends while all listening to powerful songs is appealing(not that that isnt appealing while sober). Also the songs have a lot of energy, passion, or hype, even some optimism in this particular case....I dont get what's hard to see how people could be rocking out, wasted, partying with friends to certain songs. I guess it just depends on what you're picturing when you say "partying". Sure, it'd be stupid to be a DJ at a club-party-type thing....and throw on hotelier. But there's definitely types of parties that Hotelier or bands of same ilk would go over fine at.
