The interludes are beautiful... Couldn't imagine this record without them, wouldn't want to.

If you look at the mini sections the albums divided into with the interludes I think it's beautifully done.

    Two Deliverances
    Settle the Scar
    Soft Animal
    End of Reel
    You in this Light

    Are all amazing songs

    Opening Mail For My Grandmother
    Piano Player
    Goodness Pt. 2
    Sun

    Are all good songs

The rest I don't want to judge because it's just little breaks in the album, I just can't see how people think this isn't an amazing piece of work though if you're into this kind of music. But I guess everyone's got their own opinions on what makes something great.

always was so great when they played that one live.
I'm happy I heard it three years ago, gave me three extra years with an excellent song

  7. I was thinking about this in comparison with The 1975, but I think that with this album the interludes unify rather than divide the sections. with both 1975 records, I feel that the interludes work to break off individual movements with distinct sounds and goals, transitioning between one section and another so that the whole thing feels natural. with this record, I don't think there are individual movements or distinct sections, rather I think the interludes place the rest of the album in a sonic context with the field recordings etc, highlighting the themes/tropes of the album and, again, giving a sense of space (track-wise and sound-wise, with the outdoor recordings and whatnot).

  8. I've adjusted to the new version a lot, but idk if I'll ever not naturally sing "I was dying for a gram"

the earth is not a cold dead place.

End of Reel makes me feel so many things. Like, it's this deep sense of nostalgia of a moment or memory that you desperately want to relive again because it was so perfect.

    I don't know what I want, what I want's where I've been.

When I first heard just the guitar part I got early November vibes from it

yeah this is right on, it's a spacious, digressive followup, more of an environment than home was

This was my most anticipated album of the year, and it didn't disappoint in the slightest. Echoing what everyone is saying here about it feeling more open and spacious than home. Totally feeling that Murmur/Reckoning era R.E.M. influence on here

When you get used to Goodness Pt 2 it's one of their best songs, when the whole band comes in it's so cathartic in the complete opposite way to Home and I love it!

Settle The Scar is still strange to hear just because I listened to that song a hell of a lot on the Fest 12 split it was originally on, so even with the new version it still feels out of place to me. I tried to only give Soft Animal and Piano Player a listen or two before the album streamed, so thankfully those felt natural in the album.

Just listened to Goodness Pt 1 and Pt 2 back to back, and I think it fits super well. The melodies are really similar in both, and Goodness Pt 1 feels like a good prelude to Pt 2. I like it.

So I took the dog out for an hour and a half walk earlier today. Walking in the sun, playing this album, soaking it all in. There's sort of a blissful warmth that runs through these songs that hits all the better parts of me. The lows are comfortable, calm, and make me reflect on all the goodness in my life. The highs are wonderful, joyous swirls. I really like this album.

I always knew about the old version of Settle the Scar, but since it was never I any of the streaming versions I only listened to it a couple of times. Glad I waited, because it seems to fit right in with the album for me
