I think End of Reel is perfect, honestly one of my favorites on the album. I discovered Home right after my best friend/little brother in my fraternity killed himself, and the line at the end of Dendron killed me. This past spring I lost both my Aunt and Grandpa, so death has been a really big part of my life lately. But this record (again) is exactly what I needed. I think one of the biggest things in Goodness is appreciating at where you are in life and appreciating the people around you for the time you have them, and the line "I don't know what I want, what I wants where I've been" almost hits me the same way Dendron did.

TL;DR I've gone through some shit and Home and Goodness have both hit me so hard and are both some of the most incredible albums I've ever heard.

They did it. Didn't think they could top home, but this is a whole other beast. Goodness Pt. 2 is insane.

I know this album technically hasn't been released yet so it's a bit early but like what on earth could they do for their next album? If the expectations for this were high I can't imagine what they'll be for their next LP or how they can top two back to back masterpieces...going to put them in a tricky position but if any band can do it...

Yeah I got that vibe...like I know Christian does the lyrics but no idea how the songwriting goes, seen interviews where the other members have been like 'we' and Christian's been 'I' in terms of writing stuff so no idea really, they all seemed chill and happy on the tour though so hopefully they stay together!

I think that comes out awkward too but less awkward than having the spoken word intro in between them.

I feel like a crazy person here for not loving "Soft Animal". It's alright. I love the drums on that song though

the earth is not a cold dead place.

End of Reel may be the best song they've ever done.

Two Deliverances and Settle the Scar are probably my two other favorites.

This is just going to keep getting better the more I listen.

End of reel is incredibly underwhelming. Sorry :(

    Third spin:

I might love this album. Settle the Scar is still the low point for me, but everything else is superb.

The highlights for me are the drums and guitars.

Too difficult to keep up with this thread, but I do like the album on first listen. I don't love it the way that I did for Home, where I could feel it was an instant classic for me on first listen. This will probably be a grower.

Goodness pt 2 was my favorite song on first listen, or at least the one that stood out the most.

I echo the previous comment(s) about not being able to connect with the lyrical content yet. It's really all beautiful and poetic, but not as gut-wrenching and relatable as Home was

Happy with this album, guess I'll throw some random thoughts.

Favorite tracks, Piano Player, Soft Animal, You In This Light

Don't care for the spoken word intro and it doesn't sound like the whole band did either....I don't really care for any of the tracks that are titled coordinates, just adds breaks where they aren't needed (like possibly that comma I just used). I put Goodness Pt. 1 as track 0 for the album, works fine.

Didn't hear anything that tops Dendron.

  25. no ya need that comma

    love the interludes

You In This Light is one of my favorites. End Of Reel as well

This album is distinguished for its use of space. Home was tight, cathartic. No time to gasp for air, it was all power. Goodness gives room to breathe, stretches out, takes its time.
