Just found/listened to their EP We Are All Alone... Ha wow.

Ha yeah I noticed that. That one is decent actually. Obviously Discomfort Revisited makes more sense.

 

Just got done my first listen. This album lived up to every single unrealistic expectation I had put on this album over the past couple of years. Wow.

Does everyone else's version of Settle the Scar have the weird skipping during the bridge?

 

yes CHAOS! that is not a mistake.. just an interesting mixing decision, I think it helps make the driving toms part after feel more resolved

 

I think it's intentional. One of the reasons I'm not a fan of the song.

 

I wonder when we will get an idea of what that Live stream was all about..

 

absolutely intentional, creates tension..you get the release with the next part, and god damn I love the lyrics in that bridge

 

I figured but wanted to make sure I didn't get a corrupted file or something.

There are parts of the original Settle the Scar I like more (mostly the way Christian sings certain lines) but the new bridge is such a great addition to the song

 

It took me 4-5 listens before this started to feel like the real version of this song ha

Listening to this front to back on my small balcony, alone in my new apartment after a recent, awful breakup. It's been a really hard month and I've overcome a lot and this album is at once a celebration, catharsis and acceptance of where I'm currently at. Just felt like sharing.

Haven't listened to this again yet....still catching up on other new stuff. I hope to change that soon.

 

this record sounds a lot better than I originally thought it would.. like even piano player's mix doesn't seem weird to me anymore.. its strange

 

On it's own, this mix is definitely strange but within the context of the album it works so well!

 

The bridge of Settle The Scar is phenomenal. That's when it hit me that I was listening to something truly special.

 

Controversial opinion (at least according to sketchy twitter polls) but End of Reel is far better than either Dendron or Title Track. Dendron is a great track but don't think it's the strongest off Home, and Weathered is all over Title Track imo

 

Dendron is my favourite song they've ever done, easily. Title Track is only behind Nite Ratz on INGO for me. I like both more than End of Reel.

 

Dendron started off as my favourite and I love how it reprises Introduction at the end but over time I've kind of leaned towards Among The Wildflowers, Your Deep Rest and Introduction, and I just don't particularly like the "wake me up" bit

When I say 'don't like' I mean in comparison to the rest of the album because ofc Home is like in my top 3 ever and Dendron is still a better song than most bands could ever write

 

I don't think anything they'll do will hit me as emotionally as Home. I don't really get invested emotionally in many records, especially as much as Home. It's a special album, near perfect (if you remove one song) to me.
