Has a nice kick. A little dab of it was enough for the heat to come through with a nice bite. Dipping my burrito into it so the whole bite had the sauce on it was enough for me to feel the heat in my ears and a little sweat on the top of my head - but in a good way.
Torchbearer makes amazing sauces. The Son of Zombie is a great mid-level heat sauce and the Zombie Apocalypse is absolutely delicious considering how hot it is.
The staple item is PIZZA but I'll put it on wings too occasionally, it's really good added to ramen, can dip shrimp in it, idk it's so damn useful But above all, it's just perfect on pizza, I'll drip lines onto it
Awesome man...Aardvark or ranch/crystal are my go-to pizza sauces but Ill try the Reaper on it for sure. Putting some dabs in Ramen sounds great too!
Aardvark was my pizza go-to before I got Garlic Reaper, I'll still use Aardvark here and there since it's got less of a bite but yeah Reaper is definitely an amazing option too haha
I haven't tried Son Of Zombie yet but I enjoyed Zombie Apocalypse a lot, probably my favorite ghost pepper sauce I've tried
I've never made my own but it sounds like a good time! I'm really into sauces with more obscure/unique ingredients so that'd be fun to experiement with once I got the basic process down
Yeah absolutely. This is the basic recipe I used for my first one.. Habanero Hot Sauce Recipe Mine came out pretty mild but the flavor was good. You can def use it as a start and then experiment more from there!
i picked up my first ever Dave's Gourmet sauce (Scorpion Pepper) and i have the small batch Hank Sauce and Garlic Reaper both arriving at my apartment today. gonna have to pick up a pizza!
That Dave's Scorpion sauce packed a nice punch last time I had it. Also just bought a few "new to me" sauces on amazon: Secret Aardvark, Adoboloco Hamajang, and Pirates Lantern. And of course I had to re-up on Dirty Dicks. Im excited to try them all, especially the Aardvark since its so hyped!
i actually just tried some on my lunch and i do not care for it at all. its an extract sauce and it has little to no flavor, pure heat
Just had some on my eggs this morning. Its not as smokey as I'd have expected or hoped but I think it tastes great regardless and the heat is there for sure. Maybe the smokiness was overshadowed by the heat. Compared to other ghost pepper sauces I've had it definitely kicks it up a notch. Like the heat almost pulsates in your mouth a bit. It had my face flushed and I was sniffling a bit haha
awesome! gonna add some of their stuff to my list. on another note, garlic reaper lived up to the hype in here (and then some). wow, this may be a new go-to.
maybe its because i just had the dave's scorpion pepper sauce to compare it to, but the torchbearer matches its heat with great flavor and i think thats the key to a truly winning sauce. i spent some time researching extract sauces (like dave's scorpion and ultimate insanity, mad dog, da bomb) vs really hot natural non-extract sauces (torchbearer, high river, blair's pure death) and i think ill be remaining in the latter camp
Absolutely. If it doesn't have flavor I don't want any part of it. I could see using the extract sauces in stuff like chilis or soups just to add an extra kick, but other than that I don't even see the point lol
the dave's stuff really bamboozled me cause theyre really famous and have won all these awards. im sure some of their other stuff is good but i read "slightly fruity and savory" when what i tasted was nothing like that haha. this is also before i even really knew much about extracts.
This may have already been discussed, but how do y’all feel about Crystal as an all-purpose hot sauce? I grew up on Tabasco and I find Texas Pete a little too “sweet”. Crystal has really been my go-to when I can find it. I’ve also been putting a few drops of reaper purée in any jar salsa to really give a boost in character/flavor/hotterthanhellheat.
Crystal is my go-to all purpose hot sauce. It really pairs well with anything. In other news, I snagged a bottle of Crystal with garlic the other night. $2 well spent!
