Apparently I need to eat crow, because I just saw some interview with the cast saying the whole message of mother! was an allegory for the relationship between Mother Earth and human society. so apparently the message wasn't as heavy handed as I thought. Now I'm going to have to go back and rethink the whole movie with that in mind haha.

 

Boy am I glad I didn't save We Are Still Here for October. Why have I heard so much buzz about it the past two years??

To be fair, I watched it because I'd heard great things about it since it came out in 2015

The acting was terrible, the writing was flat, the camerawork was lazy, the effects were lame. They're all really surface level critiques, but the movie didn't really offer me anything else to dig into. Maybe it was awful after all

Agreed it wasn't that memorable but my impression when I saw it was that it was a really solid entry despite not bringing much new to the table

 

I'm watching Open Water 2 and it's so bad in that great way. I missed the beginning tho so idk how they ended up off the boat but it does these occasional great slo mo shots that kill me

 

Lmao the guy suggested kicking their feet in the water to scare off the shark I cannot.
