I’ve seen/own the Twisted Souls movies. Pretty fucked up. Skullfacelooks rad, can’t find it/Blood Summer anywhere though. Warm Broth looks good, I’ve had some other Price work on my watchlist for a bit. They look to be free online.
The Fun House is apparently a classic, available on Tubi. In the Dark popped up on Twitter yesterday. Available on youtube edit: Roadkill on Dailymotion and only 14 mins
Vincent Albarano (the curator) fuckin rocks, man. He does such a good job digging into the nooks and crannies of low budget horror and writing about it. So many movies that could be forgotten to time are being brought back by him. All of his stuff is worth reading
Added a bunch of well-known horror movies I haven't seen to my watchlist, started with REC. Wild ending.
Final Destination: Bloodlines absolutely ripped! It feels so nice to see a horror sequel where they actually take the time to build the characters up. That MRI machine death is an all-timer.
Going to be watching Perfect Blue at home tonight then going to see Good Boy to cap the night off. I’m digging that there’s a lot of spooky stuff in theaters in October this year. Also planning on seeing Bone Lake, Black Phone 2 and Shelby Oaks this month.
Watching this during my lunch break. Fun stuff, for fans of WNUF if it were actually real and an anti-Halloween christian documentary lol
I really appreciated how little it was telegraphed, just one throwaway line and most of the action focused on getting to the basement. Not what I expected at all and really enjoyed it.
Well they at least did their research - they’re repping some seriously good horror movies lol. It’s also crazy to watch something like this that doesn’t feel like an outright grift (at least not in the way it would today) - even though it’s obvious bullshit, there’s at least a level of earnestness in its ideological push. Reached out to him for a lead on the Michael Samuel Smith movies since he wrote a Zine on them. Super nice dude, pointed me to the internet archive and said he hopes to digitize more of MSS's work in the future. Blood Summer / Sometimes At The Cherokee Sink : Matthew Samuel Smith : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive
Internet Archive: Digital Library of Free & Borrowable Texts, Movies, Music & Wayback Machine Here's a fuckin goldmine for any other sickos out there
Watching Toga Part Massacre. Super low budget but well shot. Not much gore so far, kills have been offscreen. Very fun though! Genuinely funny little horror parody here with the typical cozy SOV vibes of being in someone’s house in the 80s/90s EDIT: Wait what the fuck lol Mark Borchardt from American Movie shot this?????
Experimental Kindergarten : Vincent Albarano : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive Here are his Zines on archive.org, not sure if he put them there or not
Good Boy was alright! Undeniably unique. Interesting concept with just okay execution. Indy doing an incredible job was the best part for sure.
