absolutely loved this, probably one of my favourites of the year right off the bat. more thriller than outright horror I suppose but some really brutal stuff
I loved it. Had no idea how funny and sardonic it was going to be. Patrick mansplaining music as he preps for his kills destroyed me. I have no idea what else Mary Harron has done but I’m glad she directed this because it’s not hard to imagine this movie being much worse in somebody else’s hands. The business card thing was also fucking hilarious. Also always happy to see Chloe Sevigny in stuff.
Well, that's not great lol I have A-List and saw it was playing at AMC and I hadn't heard of it so I watched the trailer. It was being marketed like Terrifier or something with audience reaction shots and all that. Was just wondering if I might vomit all over the aisle if I go?
Agreed about Dangerous Animals. By the end I had basically stopped caring about it altogether but I still had fun overall simply because of the premise and Jai Courtney. Watching Weapons’ final act in theaters was one of my favorite theater experiences in a minute.
hahaha hell yeah, can’t wait. i stayed up too late last night but if i manage to have the energy tonight i’ll take an edible and watch it.
Wow I really hope the vibe of Ogroff stays like this because I’m already all in only five minutes in.
so you're saying most actual "snuff" can only be found as physical media? like black market type shit? how'd you come across Orozco? that doesn't seem like something that would be streaming anywhere
I’ve read a couple of conspiracy theory books on both sides of whether or not “snuff” is real, so it’s hard to say. As far as I know, there is no official “snuff” film (a film in which someone was paid to murder someone else on tape for the purposes of selling the film to entertained viewers) anywhere on the internet. There are obviously murders and fucked up shit that were filmed, and people do buy cctv footage or pass around murders in discords or telegrams or whatever that can be paid invite groups, but idk if “snuff” is real. Other books that I’ve read say that everyone from the Manson family to Gacy to Dahmer were paid money by high level people to film the murders they committed, but this has never been proven on the record. My gut tells me that there probably are commissioned snuff films out there but they might only exist as physical media (vhs tape etc) like you suggested. With the rise of the internet I’m sure some could be digitized or passed around on harddrives as for Orozco, theres a site called “messedupfilms” that has pretty much the entire iceberg on it for free. You can find that and the RARE films there…but don’t lol
it's a really solidly written allegory for the Vietnam War that unfortunately still rings entirely true like 60 years after it was written. King is the master at making you care about characters in a short timeframe and combined with some fantastic performances (Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson are both just phenomenal) you really get so invested so quick, there's a couple moments I was tearing up just from the dialogue and delivery admittedly it is a very simple concept and once you hit the first reveal there's no real further development of the concept, just some pretty nasty kills and character building. if that central concept doesn't work for you it would probably be an absolute slog but for me it really hit the spot of making me think about childhood friendships in a similar way to Stand By Me, which is one of my favourite movies
Finally watched it. Wow! You weren't kidding. What a movie. Going to be thinking about it for a while.
Ogroff ROCKED. I didn’t realize it was going to be almost entirely dialogue free, and oh man did it work for me. I could pretty much have this on in the background 24/7 lol
I haven't seen Cure so take with a grain of salt but I think Pulse is basically a masterpiece. has one of the scariest scenes I've seen anywhere
Did Escape Room: Tournament of Champions for Gore-Us tonight. Wouldn't necessarily call it "good" (and not as surprisingly solid as the first one), but still pretty fun for a PG-13 version of Saw.
Ogroff has now been added to my Watch Later playlist on YouTube, virtually no way I'm not into that lol
