I unfortunately very much disliked the haunted pancake movie.

The pancake movie was quite bad and got messier instead of better. The cute little pancake monsters are barely in it, but if you like b-movies it is a modern b-movie for sure.

Whoa.. how is Weapons not gonna be my FOTY? I had a hard feeling that it’d be about either aliens or witchcraft. I’m so pleased with this. Huge rewatch factor. I can’t wait to introduce this to family and friends.

Continuing my older monster movies, tonight’s film is Monster on the Campus. The movie borrows a lot from other projects, but Jack Arnold knows how to make a fun creature feature.

Weapons is my #1 but could be beaten by One Battle

Lol I am 5 minutes into Ogroff (on youtube!) and this is objectively, unironically, art. The one shot was like the photonegative ending of tcm and the score is absolutely insane so far. Electronic fuzz. This rocks

    Ogroff spoilers…I guess?

This is like if a french weirdo took only the table scene from TCM and made it the entire movie.
Ogroff just cut a lady’s tongue off, threw it to a dog (who is being held on a leash by someone offscreen) and then cut her kid’s head off over a stump of wood. I am 15 minutes in

  14. Weapons is top five for sure.

Weapons/Together and Sinners/28 Years Later can be flipped depending on the day

only horror i've seen since that post is Toxic Avenger. while i enjoyed it, i'd put it below M3GAN 2.0. not sure if it kicks Until Dawn out of my top ten tho

i'm trying to think of what i'm looking forward to for the rest of the year and drawing a blank. Him, Keeper... what else?

The first half of Weapons that I’ve seen is better than any other horror ive seen this year. I hope it sticks the landing

  17. OH. Good Boy. fuckin Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein. I guess Black Phone 2. weird that that one's getting a sequel.

  18. i think it does stick the landing. i'm surprised you'd put it above Sinners and 28 Years Later, tho. at least Bring Her Back was a bit more divisive iirc
    oh sorry forgot

Lol oh wow okay this one might be different. The worst I’ve seen would be the Orozco the Embalmer level. I assume anything lower is like cctv murders and shit. I still don’t think there’s officially “snuff” on the internet, outside of the don’t fuck with cats guy and the more recent vietnamese murder

Yeah a little googling tells me the “snuff73” film at the bottom is a mixtape of kids dying in the syrian war. Clearly psycho shit made by people who should go to jail forever

  21. dude that's nuts. i don't dare watch anything Martyrs/Terrifier level, let alone three tiers below it. Orozco does not sound like a good time

Never watched the full thing, just bits and pieces of that and Junk Films and Rare. They are real death “films” which are inherently exploitative, but there is a certain level of objectivity or respect (if you could call it that?) for the dead that Faces/Traces of Death does not have. The experimental filmmaker Stan Brakhage has a similar film that places an objective lens on an autopsy

Murderdrone rocks. I think it might require you to be a little drunk or overtired or fuzzy yourself, but if you catch the wave it is an incredible ride. I would urge anyone trying their first Murderdrone flick to definitely be in the right headspace or it will not work lol.

I also object to “Scary Movie” 1991 fitting the MD label even if it is on the original list. Terrific film, great for Halloween and a total vibe, but i don’t think it is the same tone as Ogroff or Lunch Meat. Sledgehammer is closer to the vibe

  25. Neither of these happened for different reasons, lol, but I'm almost done with Dangerous Animals. I really like Sean Byrne. All of the romance stuff in this (especially the dialogue) is a swing and a miss, but the serial killer stuff with Jai Courtney rocks

I have only read a Reddit post calling it one of the worst movies the user had ever seen, lol

Cannot imagine anyone thinking Weapons doesn't stick the landing, but I also caught it in theaters twice - excited to hear your thoughts regardless
