This guy's home video channel is pretty fun, lol. Lots of reactions to catching 2000s stuff in theaters.
Thought the new Conjuring was fun and had its moments, definitely way better than the last one by a mile.
I say this not yuck anyone's yum AT ALL because I think everyone has at least one of those "subgenres" they just have zero interest in, but I think that's the Conjuring Universe for me. I mean, I liked the first two, but everything after just feels like the same Marvelized jump scares to me. But more power to the folks who enjoy them - I love Skinamarink and watch a lot of straight-up GARBAGE, including so many slasher sequels, so I'm not here to judge lol That being said, every time the trailer for the new Conjuring has popped up before a movie I'm seeing with someone, I've enjoyed leaning over and saying "I wonder how they're gonna conjure their way outta this one!!"
Totally get that too, to me it’s basically a cheap thrill or like a roller coaster or mindless/trashy (reality) TV or something, haha. Though James Wan was definitely on a different level and the best the series had with those first two.
The Conjuring is the most not for me thing, hate jump scares and it's a little icky to make a franchise about fraudsters even if they're both burning in hell so it doesn't matter
I will say though I’m more so into vibes and imagery that makes me feel unsettled and uneasy than jump scares and this definitely had some of that.
Conjuring, Insidious, and Paranormal Activity never really appealed to me in the past. but then again, neither did Final Destination haha. while tastes can certainly change over time, i think i'd more likely get into Halloween, F13, and NOES before checking out those three
I liked how relentless the first one was but didn’t like the second and haven’t bothered with the others.
I know people were saying this the other day but you should definitely try getting into Halloween, F13, and NOES!!! (Especially the latter, but everyone else will say Halloween should be the priority)
Would love to see someone give their perspective after watching the first movie in each franchise for the first time.
This!!! My god… what I’d do to experience any one of those first installments for the first time, again.
I still haven’t seen that one, and there are other Friday and Halloween movies I still haven’t seen either. One of these days I’d also like to watch Freddy vs Jason. I watched a clip after you all were talking about it recently, and Freddy turned into a bong caterpillar thing - it rocked.
You may have inspired me to do this tonight. Listened to the WGAR episode earlier this week and I want to watch it through that lens.
Hahaha holy shit. Amazing. I thought I knew about the party scene, but it still managed to exceed my expectations and shock me with how far they took it. Obviously The Substance took a lot of influence from it. Most surprising thing is how watchable and well made it is. A great LA movie too.
