randomly ended up seeing Together with my mate after some other plans fell through and... jesus christ lmao. I have a pretty strong stomach but a few of those scenes had me feeling genuinely unwell. one for the sickos what a time to be a horror fan though, trailer for Black Phone 2 looks fantastic and Weapons in 2 days. just hope it sticks the landing better than Barbarian
Is there really not a FD: Bloodlines thread? Just watched it. Pretty damn enjoyable! Some great kills, but the opening 20 minutes (everything with the sky view disaster) was so fucking good. I like that they dropped the piano on that kid lol
Watched 30 Days of Night and Rec last night with my girlfriend to officially kick off our spooky season list we do every year. Hadn’t seen either and really enjoyed both. I think 30 Days of Night is pretty underrated for its time and was highly entertaining. Rec was absolutely bonkers, but also made me kind of sick due to having the shaky camera like Cloverfield. Not a movie I could ever rewatch due to that unfortunately.
Saw Diembodied last night, independent low budget freakshow about a girl with her own brain in a jar to make room for a parasite. Also for some reason had some beautiful sequences. Grimy as hell for the most part.
Has anyone heard anything about Strange Harvest? I'm prioritizing Together and Weapons, but my theater is getting a few showings. Trailer looks solid.
It's already nearing that time. I wanted to start gauging interest in a 3rd Annual Gore-Us. We usually start mid-September, last year the kick-off was Friday, September the 13th, for obvious reasons. If we want to run it back again, we can start on Friday September 12th, Friday the 5th, or we can even go full 2 months and start on the 1st, which is a Monday. I know we've lost and gained a few regulars in here since last year, so as a recap... For the last 2 years, we've been doing a spooky season watch list. Everyone chooses a criterion for a horror film to add to the list. During September and October, you try to watch a movie that fulfills each category. Throughout the allotted time, we share our picks, discuss what we watched, and give recommendations. All are welcome, but I think we need at least 10 people to make it worthwhile. The more the scarier. Here are the lists from the first two years to give you an idea of what kind of categories people choose. Let me know if you are interested in participating, and if you have any thoughts on changing things up or when we should start.
