Do you remember what in Rise made you want to cover your eyes? The cheese grater was the only think to come close for me and they ran that back in Burn
for years, i feel like everyone was mentioning the cheese grater scene as one of the grossest parts of Rise. but when we got to it, it was only a couple seconds long, and not as intense as everyone was making it out to be.
Yeah it moves on just a little too quick to really have a reaction to, but knowing it was coming made me question whether it was something I wanted to see. Nothing like the slow pen in the ear, which I couldn’t look away from but also made me want to scream haha
Wolf Of Snow Hollow is great. Jim Cummings is just inherently funny to watch even when it doesn’t feel like he’s trying to be
I found the gore in Burn to be a bit more comical than in Rise. the only scene that made me wince a bit was in the beginning when the guy had fish hooks in his face. the makeout scene and the face-in-smashed-head scene were gross but my reaction to that was to admire the prosthetics haha. i can't remember exactly what in Rise made me uneasy. there was the chewing glass scene and i vaguely remember eye stuff. but i'm weird. i grew up on bloody anime i was too young to be watching at the time. blood splatter doesn't gross me out. i'm fine with stuff like Renfield and Abigail. but like, for example, i fucking hate anything with needles.
Started Found Footage on Prime on a whim last night. Having fun with it! Supposed to finally be doing Del Toro's Frankenstein with some friends tonight.
It is so nowhere near as meanspirited as Evil Dead Burn lol and there's only like two big "gore" moments I can really think of...you thinking Burn is less brutal than Rise is totally throwing me for a loop.
Watched The Yeti. Had some decent gore and effects for being low budget but terrible script and pacing. Also coincidentally had Jim Cummings lol
Unfortunately found Frankenstein (2025) to be kind of just okay, at least by Del Toro standards. Some grey performances (Elordi in particular) and poignant moments, but a lot of the writing was very on the nose, and as much as I love a long film (and have no issues with slowburns), I felt it was pretty easily half an hour too long. Found Footage wasn't anything super special, but it was fun and sporadically pretty funny!
Late as always, but finally got to Backrooms last night and thought it ruled. Kinda lost me at the end there, but so well-executed on all accounts. Love how I recognized every piece of furniture from one of my friends' houses growing up. One of the best visual representations of the '90s I've seen in a minute.
In the new Hellraiser I was fascinated by the cenobite designs but grossed out when anyone got taken by wires
