Was gonna hit the 3:00 showing, but when I went to buy tickets, the only occupied seats were single seats at each corner of the auditorium. Felt like a bad omen lol. 4:30 it is
I managed to drag my ass out of the house but jury's still out on whether I wanna tackle Evil Dead Burn. I'm emotionally exhausted and probably not in the right headspace for it. Half an hour until showtime, or I could choose something else, or not see anything at all
Planned on hitting the 3pm solo today but was at the ER with the baby until 2am last night and had to stay home today. (He's all good.) Planning on 8pm Saturday with friends (followed by a solo Jackass showing).
Maximum Overdrive is so insane and fun. Never gets old. He had a 102.8 temp last night :/ but no other symptoms, and it stayed down today after a night of Tylenol and Motrin, so we're thinking it's just teething? Molars are notoriously tough. I got him a little oat milk ice cream and he's happy as a clam.
Posted my (spoiler tagged) thoughts in the thread, but for those that mostly stay in here, I’ll say that I think it strikes the balance between brutality and humor better than anything has since the original. Great mix of the last two entries. There is a mid credits scene AND a post credits scene, so make sure to stick around. And for anyone this might matter to, trigger warning for a bit of animal harm
Trying to get some friends over to watch Evil Dead 2013 and Evil Dead Rise before we see Burns in theaters but I can’t make it happen for another 3 weeks. Really hope it stays in cinemas!
I wish I didn't work tomorrow or i would dive right in to Army of Darkness, which is probably more my kind of movie, but I really enjoyed these!
The Shrouds (more of a drama) is working a little less for me on second watch. Still a vibe, still enjoy the weird conspiracy drama meets traditional Cronenberg stuff, but the last 20 minutes or so feels pretty messy and unresolved. Still feels very, very personal (in a good way).
