Jill actually is in the films! And she basically exists to be the less cool version of Alice and pout that Alice is just so naturally cooler.
So like, yeah, they totally could've just made Jill the main character from the get go and had Milla play her
now that June's done, here's where we're at: Obsession/Leviticus Mother Mary/The Bride! Forbidden Fruits/Ready or Not 2: Here I Come Exit 8 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple Send Help Over Your Dead Body Hokum Backrooms Alpha (Ducournau) They Will Kill You Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die Cold Storage Whistle honorable mention: the scenes in I Love Boosters that lean into horror lmfao
yeah Jill, Chris and Claire are all in the Anderson movies but they all kind of come off really incompetent and useless while Alice is Cool and Good at Everything lol at least the casting for Jill was perfect if basically nothing else was
watching RE Apocalypse. I probably have enough self-respect not to do this whole series (just) but this one I don't really remember either way
first half is actually pretty good with the 2000s Dawn of the Dead vibes, solid outbreak and the church scenes. gets bad literally exactly when Milla's character comes back in lol. the news footage montage with Umbrella covering up the incident is also pretty great in a very cynical way
Finished History of Violence last night (not horror) and moved right into The Shrouds. Cronenberg is the King
Agreed fully! I still like it quite a lot! There is a lot that doesn’t work for me though and it really dragged itself along for most of its runtime. Some of the goofier Jason moments really didn’t land - him pulling his mask up to frighten off the city toughs makes sense in context and adds to the iconic NY moments but it’s so self aware and jokey for what Jason has been up to this point. Also Rennie seeing boy Jason all over this movie has never really worked at all. Ultimately I just think I’d rank it a bit lower than in previous watches. Still have 9 and 10 to go though!
new footage was solid. acts as a prequel to the intro bit for the film, tying it into the YouTube series. was supposedly made in Blender over the course of two weeks (after the film released)
Okay I'm watching Return To Silent Hill and fully expected it to be awful but I'm kind of living for it so far? Bad reviews be damned.
I saw The Way of Water four times in theaters. Second watch of Obsession solidified it as, maybe not perfect, but very, very, very good. Now watching Mirror Mirror.
Finally got around to showing my friends I Saw the TV Glow. It was only my second time watching it myself. I was scared to watch it alone. They liked it. I'm glad I got to share it with them, this movie means the world to me, even if my personal interpretation of the ending is more sad than hopeful.
