Obsession is really striking a nerve with the general public. I’ve had numerous coworkers tell me they went to go see it just because of the buzz, and my wife (who is never interested in new horror) said she wanted to watch. Marketing is doing its job!
Really liked Backrooms but kinda wish there was more to it? I really think this will click more for those who are familiar with the youtube series tbh. Really loved some of the wilder go for broke sequences especially when we gotclose to that Annihilation noise with the score
Would anyone be interested in checking out a psychological thriller/body horror short I made? About 10 min long. Can't share it publicly ahead of its festival run, but would love to see what the horror fans of Chorus think of the movie. DM me and I'll share a screener link!
I've been running back through the Scary Movies. Don't think I ever saw 4 or 5 and I'm fully prepared for a dip in quality. First three all hit just as I expected them to though. Kinda excited to be able to see a new one in theaters.
It's solid! Fred Gwyn rocks. I actually like the 2019 adaptation as well. Different, but effectively creepy imo. Cannibal Holocaust is maybe my version of the Faces of Death convo we had in here a while ago. I understand why it's a classic, but with no nostalgic attachment or memories connected to it, I just don't think it's worth the animal cruelty stuff for me.
Infinity Pool might be my second favorite Mia Goth performance (behind Pearl ofc). Possessor also goes so fucking hard
Mia Goth's sing-song delivery of "Jaaaa-ames!" lives rent free in my head. INFINITY POOL fucking rules.
tbh, Mia Goth is the primary (possibly only) reason why i'm looking forward to Shawn Levy's Star Wars movie next year. she of all people deserves a lightsaber.
god-tier performance. if anyone have a chance to grab the X Trilogy 4K boxset from A24, the Dolby Vision grading on Pearl is fucking fantastic.
I am going to try to clear out some modern horror blindspots this summer. I have not seen any of the modern haunting movies (Conjuring, Insidious, Annabelle) etc, the Evil Dead 2013 Remake/Rise, Longlegs, Skinamarink. If people wanna post recent (20 years lol) favorites, obvious or not, I will add them to my list.
Still need to watch infinity pool and antiviral, but did pick up both during some sale on 4k, so maybe I'll put them on soon now that I have the free time lol. Did a double feature of tuner and Backrooms. Tuner was very good and not a horror movie, while Backrooms was ok I guess? Wasn't in the best mood tbh but it didn't quite come together well enough but there were neat moments
