I haven't seen it since it came out but I remember thinking Velvet Buzzsaw was one of the most boring movies I'd ever seen. waste of a great cast
very tough. When thinking of general IP — Nightmare hasn’t been touched in 15+ years. Friday the 13th immediately came to mind, but they’re making that prequel series for A24 currently. personally I’d say Friday the 13th since it had significantly less of an impact on my horror fandom when I was younger
The only one I haven't seen is tcsm. And aside from Scream I've only seen the first of each franchise. So judging from just the first films, F13 seems to have had the least amount of influence on the genre as a whole I'm scared tcsm would be too gory for me, but by today's standards it's probably pretty tame mayhaps?
Yeah TTCM isn’t really gory at all but it is still one of the grimiest things ever. It doesn’t need any blood or gore to do its thing
everyone saying F13 is on my shitlist I will not be answering unless people feel like being mad today
I would probably choose The Exorcist, if I’m being totally honest. Maybe even Scream, which is a favorite of mine. Neither one would feel good to say. I just think plenty of the horror I love still exists without the direct influence of either. I have given this about 30 seconds worth of thought.
my thought process was while I didn't particularly like The Exorcist I think without it serving as the blueprint for religious horror we wouldn't have gotten The First Omen (granted I haven't seen the og Omen either). the rest of them are all slashers so there's some overlap there
Brother...you read my mind Probably The Exorcist of we're taking the objective influence part out of it. Otherwise, it's Scream for me. I love that movie and franchise up to a point, but the way people in here seem to feel about F13 is how I sometimes feel about Scream as a whole, fun as it was.
The Exorcist easily loses due to not having fun sequels like the rest of the franchises. Scream and F13 are my top 2.
