undertone was fuckin sick, I loved the ending. surprised by the mixed stuff I've been seeing, was a big hit with all 3 people I went with
i didn't think it was particularly scary and yeah sure, there were some great spooky shots but it just didn't do anything for me after how hyped it was and honestly how much the trailer sold me on it. was expecting the ending to be a bit... more? than it was
I thought the last 10 minutes was absolutely perfect, different strokes haha. there was definitely some silly stuff (that is absolutely not how a podcast is made) but it genuinely creeped me out
It got under my skin in the theater for sure, especially the sound design. I think my biggest complaint was just that it felt like a pastiche of like three other A24 movies. That and some tonal stuff, like the mini-monologue the lead delivers in the third act. Still solid
yeah the plot was just Sinister with sounds instead of home movies. but I'm alright with it lol the sleep guided meditation scare was truly inspired though, that's my favourite horror scene in a minute. gotta watch this movie again with my good headphones at some point
Ah, didn't realize Barker was the Milk & Serial guy. That was fun, Obsession sounds like it will be too.
Finished my presentation for our first movie screening on Saturday night. Praying we get at least 10-15, just so I can justify its continued existence. I am set to show three months of Proto-Slashers at another venue for summer, likely starting with The Hitch-Hiker (1953).
Also, the first of the final four Last Drive-In specials airs on Shudder this Friday! Walpurginacht, so likely witch-adjacent, but I haven't seen any clues or guesses yet.
