Wicked cool. Crazy that HBO/WB never bothered to do it despite it being arguably the first big HBO show that put it on the map
Hopefully this means we can get a TFTC Blu Ray box set down the road, probably not but I’m still gonna dream about it.
Per FB, it was shot on film and then edited on tape so any remaster would need to go back to the raw files and fully start over. Lot of time and money. They did it with Star Trek TNG
It is certainly no Terrifier but it might not be for you. I found one of the kills genuinely upsetting and that one wasn’t even really gory, just evil and really well done. Movie had the thrills, tension, and energy that has been missing from Scream (or most other slashers, really) for ages. Can’t believe how much I loved it.
3? Terrifier has a lot of mean-spirited over the top showing off style gore, this doesn't really. It's more grounded and realistic and sinister in a different style.
I can’t stress enough that it’s not a Faces of Death style realistic murder film, it’s a straight forward slasher based on some of the kills featured in Faces of Death. It’s really meta and a fun time.
idk i have trouble quantifying how much gore i can handle. i can squirm through some gross stuff and still end up mostly liking a movie eg Hellraiser, Evil Dead Rise. i like over the top stuff too like Renfield and Violent Night but i'm wary of stuff like Terrifier and In a Violent Nature
I think the new FoD is much closer to a Scream movie or any other modern day smart slasher than it is to something like Terrifier
I did not see FoD yet but will say I am sad to se everyone leaving In a Violent Nature out of the convo when they say that this is the first good slasher in forever
hey IAVN is a favorite of mine (but even though it’s obviously a slasher it’s also not what I usually think of when I think slasher for whatever reason)
I guess I haven’t seen that many new slashers lately. Clown in a Cornfield, the new Screams, Thanksgiving? Totally Killer, Freaky, Happy Death Day count. None of those were amazing tho.
at the markets today, I just saw a rare Halloween III novelisation. will not be spending $80 on it but still really cool
