Did you not like Video Violence on first watch? It's the movie that got me into SOV and I like the second one even more tbh. Also, third Potrykus was Relaxer. Not really horror, although it is definitely gross and a descent into madness lol. Wasn't really for me the way Vulcanizadora and The Alchemist's Cookbook were, but also not bad. Interesting premise and solid performances, just didn't quite come together for me.
I believe I bailed because of a scene with violence against a woman and I didn’t feel like watching it. I was enjoying it up to that point though. I’ll try to rewatch soon. Good to know about Relaxer. I’m not sure if I’ll do that or Buzzard next.
I do! Every time there was a great line (which was often), I thought to myself "I need to see this again to hear that line!" Hahaha so good! And their chant they do! That's one groups of friends are going to memorize and recite, for sure.
Oddity was very cool, bordering on great. I think it was a better movie than Caveat, but I was pretty disappointed by the reveal, which felt recycled from Caveat (and that was my least favorite part of that movie) albeit told in a more straightforward, less distracting way. I hope Hokum’s narrative is different but Damian McCarthy has a good eye for horror and there was a lot of really effective tension and atmosphere. Loved a lot about it, especially the end when Ted rings the bell and is just looking around waiting.
The Basement was fun. I’m watching the plethora of bonus films on the TV Blu now. Say No to Drugs rocks
It's definitely sleazy, no doubt about that, so if that's your line then it might not be for you. But the fact that it's like...local deli workers filming themselves prepping human limbs and stuff is so campy and fun to me
I think it was just where I was at when I happened to be watching it. I am looking forward to giving it a full watch.
Have the house to myself tonight so I’m gonna do a solo double feature. Definitely Clown in a Cornfield because that’s been on my list. For the second should I do: The Toxic Avenger remake or The Ugly Stepsister?
Can’t go wrong with either of those but The Ugly Stepsister is way better unless you would prefer something dumb and fun in which case definitely The Toxic Avenger remake lol
Gonna say Toxic Avenger remake - Ugly Stepsister is better, but Toxic Avenger remake would pair great with Clown in a Cornfield. I also literally just watched it last night lol
the one with Dinklage? had a good time with that even tho some of it was a liiiittle too gross for me haha i really should watch Ugly Stepsister, and Humanist Vampire (just another that i've seen mentioned in here a lot). been going out to the theaters but slacking on everything else.
Clown in a Cornfield was pretty good. I’m a fan of the book series and I felt like the film adaption upped the gore in a nice way but made the dialogue pretty terrible at times. Thanks to the thread for pushing The Ugly Stepsister. Got 45 minutes and was really digging it when my WiFi kept cutting out. Will have to finish at another time.
My love of The Void led me to Father's Day, which is good and fun but EXTREMELY fucked up for what is essentially a parody lol. I should rewatch The Editor.
Over Your Dead Body was a ton of fun. Surprising and gory and Samara Weaving talks in her natural Australian accent, she’s so funny in this. Highly recommend. Faces of Death was solid as well, meta horror thriller was some fun sequences and maybe the best portrayal of being online I’ve seen in one of these movies. Also Charli is so bad in it.
might have to peep that, I don't think I've seen Samara use the Aussie accent since... Ash vs Evil Dead actually, damn
Apparently there is minor speculation that tonight's mystery movie at Regal could be Hokum? Basing this primarily off the reddit but the user who usually reveals the movie dropped a hint that may point to Hokum. If so, I'll definitely go. Okay nevermind, seems like it's The Mummy Okay nevermind, it’s not even a horror movie apparently
Yeah 1. Obsession 2. Over Your Dead Body 3. Faces of Death 4. Camp we also saw a series of horror shorts, my favorites were Spanked By a Ghost, God Doesn’t Love Me (incredible special effects), and Tame. I don’t know if those are gonna be anywhere. and the 4K restoration of SPEED RACER was wild but not horror.
