Literally playing Dewey's theme for like 10 seconds in the middle of the climax...so fucking stupid man
Loved Forbidden Fruits, gonna be a cult classic. Very specific vibes but Lilli Reinhart was giving 110% every single line.
omg i didn't know Julia Ducournau (Raw, Titane) was releasing a movie this year! that just shot up my must watch list. between Alpha, Forbidden Fruits, and They Will Kill You, idk what to watch this weekend ahhh
yeah, it looks kind of dumb and apparently struggled to find distribution which isn't a great sign, but also genuinely kind of creepy? Also apparently there was a movie made afterwards, but already released on Hulu called American Sweatshop? Whole thing is strange lol but I'm stoked to see it coming to Shudder
Trailers Silence of the Lambs remake loljk Spidey Is God Is Devil wears Prada 2 Disclosure Day (new) Corporate Retreat Hokum (new) Mk2 Lee Cronin's The Mummy
I hope Hokum is anywhere near as good as the teaser (I still haven’t watched the actual trailer). Maybe I’ll finally get around to Caveat and Oddity this weekend.
They Will Kill You is so ridiculously unhinged, it's like Ready Or Not meets Kill Bill. Very fun time. Some jokes didn't land for me tbh but other times I was cackling. I love that Zazie did this and GLHFDD and they came out within a month of each other
there was also some Raimi flourishes in the direction. just an awesome time. lots of moments had me grinning pretty good.
The Alchemist Cookbook is really, really cool. Be forewarned that it's very subdued - not slow, per se, but not a lot of dialogue or interaction. One of those movies where you are just slowly watched a character lose themselves in isolation. But the alchemy shit is fun to watch, there's some really unsettling moments, and all in all, I just found it to be really charming and compelling. We love independent horror (it's Potrykus) with a black lead! On Shudder now! Please ignore the very stupid and tonally bizarre voiceover narration in this trailer, lol. It's good shit. Very reminiscent of Resolution or House of the Devil.
going to see Ready or Not 2 with the hometown gang today, I don't think any of them have seen the original though. for y'all who saw it already does the new one reference the first a lot or is it pretty standalone?
Caveat was very enjoyable. Loved the vibe, didn’t really care a ton for the story or characters except for mischievous mom ghost but whatever. Happy I watched.
Yeah I dug Caveat quite a bit but thought Oddity was a step up. Good natural progression. Stoked for Hokum! Stokum!
