definitely see Undertone in Dolby if you can I didn't love it but I think a lot of you probably will (a little too much of a slow burn for me) but the sound was easily where it shined
Yeah I thought it was pretty effective and that sound design is a cool feature, clearly the main focus of the movie. Genuinely unnerved at the end
I wasn’t able to see it in Dolby and while I think it would definitely benefit from the best sound you can experience, I’m pretty meh on the film. I think I liked what they were going for more than the actual execution of it. Some great shots in it and some creepy moments but yeah.
Happy Friday the 13th to those who observe. Dolly and F13 Part 2 for me tonight. Catching up on Joe Bob tomorrow.
oh I forgot Slanted was also coming out this weekend. i haven't actually seen the trailer but the premise sounds totally my shit
Going to check out undertone later, def concerned about crowd behavior and noise due to the nature of it but we’ll see
yeah, my theatre was relatively empty last night and any movement/candy wrapper/drink could be heard so for a movie that requires a lot of attention to the audio, it was distracting haha.
saw undertone. the few there were thankfully silent when it mattered tho one dude was an easily scared dude and kept gasping lmao. thought it was interesting and effectively built tension and creepiness but not sure it completely worked by the end.
Also had good luck with a well behaved crowd. Movie scared the fuck out of me. Not necessarily a great movie but very effective in terms of scares.
Wouldn’t really be upset to hear someone saw undertone and wasn’t in love with it.. but man.. I haven’t been that lost in/locked into a horror movie in a really long time. My showing was PACKED (including the majority of the front seats being full) and everyone managed to stay nearly completely silent. The sound design had me turning my head constantly thinking people around me were whispering or getting up. There were a number of shots I loved so much i had to nudge my wife to acknowledge. Loved a lot of the framing as my brain was filling in a lot of gaps trying to prepare for jump scares that mostly never came. Really loved this movie. Was it GREAT? I don’t know. Probably not. But I had a great time watching it
Agreed!. His performance was the only thing taking me out of the movie. Sounded like a “horror” youtuber reading “top 10 spookiest TRUE Reddit stories” or some shit
After watching keeper earlier this week this director did so much better on the framing and negative space
