new Shudder UI is definitely a step up from the old app, but i'm still disappointed it doesn't support 5.1 audio on my TV, especially when AMC+ does, iirc. and i'm sure the video compression probably still looks like ass.
ah yes the Flanagan regulars for the record, i'm definitely not upset about their addition. probably be mad if he added Henry Thomas
Henry Thomas is not bad he's just the weakest of the bunch Also missing is Alex Essoe who happens to be in Flanagan projects almost always as a mom who dies
i don't think i've seen him in anything where he's actually been "good". passable at best (given the context of the role), and annoying/replaceable at worst. i'm sure he was decent enough in E.T. (which i've only seen half of like 25 years ago), but as an adult, i don't think he's that intriguing of an actor.
Trailers before The Bride Silence of the Lambs Scary Movie (pronoun joke is huge eye roll) Pressure Faces of Death Disclosure Day Ready or Not 2 red band Project Hail Mary ad for Claude Mortal Kombat 2 They Will Kill You No Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma
Henry Thomas was good in House of Usher and Ouija Origin, but yeah I'm always more excited to see my kings Rahul and Hamish show up
Henry was passable in Usher and Gerald's Game because he does a decent-ish job at playing a creep/asshole. everything else, his characters could've either been played by someone else or they were uninteresting. i haven't seen Absentia or Origin of Evil, so i can't comment on those, but every other Flanagan project, he's come off as annoying or unnecessary.
to clarify, i have nothing but love for Flanagan. i've enjoyed all his projects i've seen to varying degrees (Before I Wake being the lone exception). Henry Thomas, on the other hand, is just really boring to me.
Watching the very fun Pacific Heights for ABZ. More a thriller, but idk where else to post this. Looking back at reviews it’s so funny how many people in 2017-2020 felt the need to talk about how landlords are bad before saying anything else. Keaton fucks with them enough that the protagonist has a miscarriage lol, I don’t think anyone is judging you for saying he’s the bad guy
Oh fuck, I loved The Bride! So much of it just worked for me, idk. I fear I might find stuff to nitpick about it thematically after I sit with it for a bit, but for now as the credits are rolling, I think I can safely say this has secured a spot in what will be my top three of the year. What a way to set the bar, and it's only March!
