Gonna go ahead and lock this in for my top 10 (horror) - I have a few more to watch and could maybe stretch it to 15, but I feel good with this list 1. Weapons 2. The Shrouds 3. Sinners 4. 28 Years Later 5. Dangerous Animals 6. Final Destination Bloodlines 7. Bone Lake 8. Silent Night Deadly Night 9. Bring Her Back 10. The Long Walk
I didn't know if I should include The Shrouds and kind of went back and forth, because I probably liked it more than Weapons, but if I'm grading horror specifically, I guess Weapons kind of scratched that particular itch more... idk
Seated for Marty Supreme and the Scream 7 trailer somehow looks even less interesting on the big screen. The Bone Temple, on the other hand…
I enjoyed it but honestly have mostly already forgotten it less than a month later. Maybe because I've watched a ton of really great shit in the last few weeks that's taking up all my brain space (Crash, Black Christmas, Marty Supreme, Wake Up Dead Man, SNDN, Wake in Fright)
i'm gonna have to give some more thought as to where exactly i'm gonna place it in my top five but holy forking shirt balls Frankenstein is fucking fantastic. very much my shit, everything just worked for me, i am in absolute awe. it's every bit as captivating as Shape of Water was. so, top five, order subject to change Bring Her Back Sinners 28 Years Later Weapons Frankenstein then everything else, order probably less likely to change Companion Final Destination: Bloodlines Presence Together Keeper Good Boy M3GAN 2.0 Predator Badlands Black Phone 2 Until Dawn Bugonia Toxic Avenger Silent Night Deadly Night Ash Death of a Unicorn Opus The Monkey Wolf Man Rosario i'll post a finalized top 15 list for the thread ranking in a couple days. honorable mentions: curses, devils, and demons, oh my! not really horror, but these animated films really slay KPop Demon Hunters Chainsaw Man Reze Arc Demon Slayer Infinity Castle part one Jujutsu Kaisen Shibuya Arc (recap) + Execution would also like to add that while it's not a horror movie--or even horror-adjacent--i really loved Life of Chuck, a short story by a horror writer adapted by a horror director
Queens of the Dead is such a goddamn delight - not perfect, but just so much fun. I can't wait to see what Tina does next. Forgot to report back, but I also loved It Ends - I wish a little more happened in the third act, but the reveal is both hilarious and very grim. I really like the film's message after chewing on it. Also enjoyed Horror in the High Desert 4. Those movies just really know how to creep me out. This week of catching up on last minute 2025 releases has been a lot of fun.
1. Bring Her Back 2. The Ugly Stepsister 3. Sinners 4. The Shrouds 5. Together 6. Weapons 7. Final Destination Bloodlines 8. Companion 9. V/H/S/Halloween 10. Frankenstein 11. Presence 12. Silent Night, Deadly Night 13. 28 Years Later 14. The Long Walk 15. The Monkey Another great year for horror!
Finally got to The Long Walk last night. That was great, it totally nails what's so good about the book. I could watch Hoffman and Jonsson talk all day, their chemistry was really special. Redid my list to include it and cut some of the ones I didn't really love. Kind of weird, but I was really moved by 28 Years Later and it would probably be higher than Weapons on my overall movie list, but as a horror film I think Weapons is a little more to my taste. 1. Weapons 2. 28 Years Later 3. Sinners 4. Final Destination Bloodlines 5. The Long Walk 6. Clown in a Cornfield 7. Strange Harvest 8. I Know What You Did Last Summer 9. Companion 10. VHS Halloween
Really enjoyed The Long Walk, but man, what an absolute day-ruiner. Been a while since I watched something that made me feel that bad
Also friendly reminder to get your final lists posted by New Year's Day! I'll start tallying on my trip back from DC.
ive been avoiding it. i don't think i've come across any other King story premise that was so entirely unappealing.
1. Bring Her Back 2. Weapons 3. Companion 4. 28 Years Later 5. The Monkey 6. Sinners 7. Final Destination Bloodlines 8. The Ugly Stepsister 9. Silent Night, Deadly Night 10. It Ends 11. The Long Walk 12. V/H/S/Halloween 13. Influencers 14. Black Phone 2 15. Good Boy Still some others I enjoyed quite a bit, but this is the list that feels right. Still hurts that I didn't love Keeper
Bloody Disgusting’s Top 15 Best Horror Movies of 2025 Hadn't heard of a lot of these. Dust Bunny and A Desert sound cool
It was very underwhelming after the first 20 minutes or so. Probably my most disappointing movie of the year along with Death of a Unicorn.
